FedEx Delivers Efficiently

But with questionable quality?

So yeah, this is raising quite a shitstorm in Finland for some reason. I don't know why, but most people are siding with the FedEx employee, saying stuff like "Well, the client looks rich enough to order a new one so why does it matter?" or "The client should have kept his fence open, I deliver for a living and fuck if I'll stop to ring any door bells." Et cetera.

Does anyone here work or has worked previously in delivery business? I think what that guy did is fucking rotten, no matter how you try to spin it.

was it a TV? Why the fuck would you throw a TV? He could have pretty easily lowered it to the ground on the other side of the fence.

Computer monitor, looks like a 19-22 inch flatscreen to me. The client found it broken, obviously, and checked his gate camera that's on record 24.

FedEx publicist Shea Leordeanu said to the news, that when they find out exactly which employee it was it "won't be the greatest day of his life".

Wow, I would fucking rage over that. I hope the guy contacted FedEx and sent this video, that delivery man should lose his job for sure. The fact that he didn't ring even attempt to try the buzzer first...

That the client is wealthy doesn't matter, yeah he can probably easily buy another but that doesn't mean you should act that careless. And there is no reason to leave the fence open that's to your own discretion.

The way they guy threw it over the fence clearly shows he doesn't bother with the save delivery of a package. If it happened to him he would probably be mad as well.

Thank god I live in the Netherlands were packages always have to be signed for. Or dropped of at the neighbors. Which actually works quite well in my street since there is this old lady who is always at home.

In my opinion that guy should pay for the product, you don't handle a fragile package like that.

Yes I know what goes on in sorting centers but this was excessive.

The wealth of the customer doesnt matter. the value of the package is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that the duty of the delivery company is to transport goods from a to b and take caution to ensure that the packages are received in the same condition as when they were sent. This delivery guy obviously is unhappy in his current employment situation and he should thank his boss when he gets fired.

What I'm reading right now from people who supposedly work in delivery:

"This is commonplace in courier firms. Usually it's not about not giving a fuck, but it's someone who wants to get fired instead of quitting his job [In Finland there's usually a month of work after being fired, which allows you to look for new jobs, plus a severance pay]."

"Good technology should last a fall like that. If you're lazy enough to not pick up your own orders, then you should also afford to buy technology that doesn't break so easily."

"I get paid for 7,5 hours a day, no matter how fast I complete my day. I do shit like this all the time and haven't been caught, gotta be more careful now. We just say that it was broken and our company remunerates the client, I don't have to worry too much. I like my job, though, don't hate it."

uhhh take some pride in your work bro. it is absolutely hilarious that you just admitted to being a bad employee and you are ok with it!!!! think of how many peoples days you have ruined. hahahahah hope taking advantage of the rules works out for you bro.

I don't know, I've done some "shitty" jobs in my time where I was responsible for handling other people's expensive materials and had loads of bad days when I felt I'd rather just quit on the spot, but I never even felt like doing something like this.

I've also seen firsthand how many baggage handlers at different airports operate with people's possessions and it hasn't been pretty.

Are these people inherently devoid of any fucks given on a responsible job (or in their lives), or is this something that modern society brings on - jobs that do not involve the workers mentally or physically almost at all, leading to this kind of behavior?

I used to work for FedEx loading trucks, you think the delivery is the only time your package is tossed around?

I clean post offices right now, and when they sort the packages they just toss them from a few feet away into the bins. Definitely this.

The client was home during the delivery. What you see in the video is what happened - he drove up, unloaded and threw the monitor and did not give a single fuck.

It's in the video description

"Here is a video of my monitor being "delivered". The sad part is that I was home at the time with the front door wide open. All he would have had to do was ring the bell on the gate. Now I have to return my monitor since it is broken"

not to go too off topic, but how well does that system work in your opinion? Do you think it's abused a lot as the quote suggests or do you think it's more beneficial?

sounds like throwing around packages is a passive aggressive way of saying fuck you to customers who made better decisions with their lives.

No, it's not very abused. Usually here they need to have a pretty valid reason to fire you even if you're not in an union and if you are found to have been doing something like in the OP purposefully, they will take your ass to court so it's usually not worth it. This guy I quoted seems to be in the know, though, so maybe in this industry it's more prevalent.

However, the employers' abuse a four month free trial much more [You can be fired on the spot without a reason during the first four months of employment] and simply hire new people like a day after, or use cheaper or free workforce from student work placement. This has happened to many of my friends, and even my father once when he changed jobs. He was on his last day of trial working as a office manager and then the rep from the main offices just came by to tell him to pack up his stuff and not come back tomorrow. Next week they already had a new guy running the office.

Fucked up huh?

Already worked for FedEx too as a cargo handler, and I was at a pretty busy station, and when we were in a rush, packages were not handled nicely. I want to apologize for every packages that I've violently thrown into cans or trucks that surely have been damaged. But sincerely, it's like that in every delivery company, trust me.

...and this right here is why I don't order shit online. Bunch of deadbeat losers think it's fun to toss your stuff around without giving two fucks.

they do indeed, i saw the fedex guy throw my package from 5 feet away onto my steps, luckily it was just kratom and not an ipod or something fragile.

Hey hey I loaded the trucks (3 in a shift) for outlets/shopping centers. It was almost all clothing. Sometimes it would get so backed up you would have no choice but to toss a package. If one person on the line fell behind, the whole line would fall behind and get backed up.(not saying its ok to do). Shit got way too stressful for me and I quit.

But everytime I have to have a package mailed to me say as an example buying something off of newschoolers, I always wonder how terrible the trip was for it to get to my house. Most people if its not their shit they dont respect it. pretty fuckin retarded if you ask me.

Pretty sure it had to be the same one because I think the next closest Terminal was in Plattsburgh.

I used to get so many crushed packages with fucked up labels so I could never scan any of my shit and had to always enter the number manually. drove me fuckin insane.

It sounds a bit like the system has developed by people being like "x would be a good idea" then like "oh shit, well now there's this problem so let's add y to x."

haha Pretty sure I must have came in right after you cause I had the LG outlet trucks. trucks. 222-224

Fuck oshkosh, carters, jimborey(sp?) and all the rest of the bullshit i dont rememebr up there haha.

i would be furious and pursue that until the guy was fired. what a fucking scumbag.

There is no valid excuse for that.

The guy is home when the delivery is done

-so fucking what, that same guy paid the delivery company for the service they're providing, it doesn't matter if he's sitting on a lawn chair right there. he paid for them to deliver it in the same condition it left its origin in.

The guy is wealthy, he can buy another

-if you think that's a good excuse you're as stupid as the delivery guy is

The bottom line is that FedEx only exists because consumers (whether the end customer or the manufacturer or the retailer) PAY THEM to transport products from A to B. i hope that fuckface gets fired. He easily could have just lowered it over the fence if not rung the gate bell.

I have no idea how anybody honestly could even take this into consideration.

" Oh hey yeah Fedex, I just opened up my new 24" LCD monitor and it had a huge crack down the screen but its OK! I have a shitload of cash burning a hole in my pocket so im just going to buy a new one."

I'll quote Bigbomber517 (but too seriously):

"uhhh take some pride in your work bro. it is absolutely hilarious that you just admitted to being a bad employee and you are ok with it!!!! think of how many peoples days you have ruined. hahahahah hope taking advantage of the rules works out for you bro. "
