Favorite year in Skiing?

All the old guys seem to say things like "oh I wish it was still '01", or take an elitist stance because they were around in the "golden age" and know things that happened a long time ago. All the young kids seem to think all this new stuff is where it's at, all the gangster style and tall tees and pretzels.
Personally I'm somewhere in between. I watched UP1.2 yesterday again and that was easily my favorite time in skiing. '05. People throwing down in moderately fitting clothes (don't know why but I found that really appealing), JP and Julien showing how fun everything was, antifreeze, music other than hip hop in ski edits, and the fact that twintips were still unpopular enough that you could just talk to every skier with twintips at any mountain and be instant friends. It was new and exciting, but evolved enough to have its own identity.
So what year do you wish it was again? Or if you like it as is why is it better now than before?
 
id hav to say the 09 and 10 season just because of the level that everyone is at now... the style is smooth which makes u look better in a sense... back in the day the innovation was rediculous and we wouldnt b the same without all of it back from like 01 to 06 but now everything is possible because of that... but personally i like the style a lot more it just makes the smoothness of all the tricks go together same as the music.

1997 but dude, that really depends on what you count and stuff...hard to say. Skiing is like everything else, it has to get better every year.
 
2010. I've loved this season so far. So much stuff has happened, and summer park will make it even better.

But also 06/07, when I was getting into skiing properly. The 4bi9 edits I used to watch over and over again still have a special place.October with 4bi9 is my favourite video on youtube.
 
06/07. I payed little to no attention to NS, and had the most ballin' time on this tiny ass ski team that just ripped around all day.
Although, I am enjoying this year quite a bit as well. Could use some more snow, but thats life.
If you think that skiing's in a bad state right now, get out of the newschool community! Go hit up TGR, get some touring gear, venture into the backcountry and explore the mountain. There's a lot more to skiing than just park, which I think some people get too focused on from being on NS too much.
 
I'm definitely not saying there's anything wrong with that, I love skiing park too, but sometimes people get dissatisfied with the state that park skiing is in right now, and assume it represents skiing as a whole instead of just a portion. I think that the people that are dissatisfied need to expand their perspective and look at other aspects of skiing.
 
Fortress was rad! Loved that place. I had my first ever pow day there, and I didn't know wtf to do. It was like waist deep and I couldn't fucking move hahahaha.
 
i really had an awesome year last season. I had some sweet pow days, got into skiercross, and it just had an all around good vibe
 
07' the tom wallisch/4bi9 hype was like an unavoidable tidal wave that has basically shaped what skiing is today. In fact, i didnt even have an ns account back then, i just watched youtube and visited ns occasionally to read news and watch videos. Then i got onto to the forums to find answers about building a backyard setup , its all downhill from there....
