Favorite Quad Exercise?

For strength SQUATS

for size SQUATS

for cliffs SQUATS

for skiing, the whole season is a different block of training,I cut 10-15lbs and I switch to a bunch of isometric holds, stretches, athletic movement, sprints, speed training, and other nonsense including ankles n toes and core, and of course chasing headless chickens, I really dial back legs during ski season, most my leg work is just what you may call HIIT trampoline jumping, and a ton of liss and skiing

??U ?s have fun and injury free season to all

leg extensions for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy or in addition to any quad exercise for endurance but not much else imo, I do like them a lot

Same reason chest and not back… they’re in the front where dumb dumbs can see it in the mirror.

People also attribute the quad to a persons strength and ability, most ignore the rest, a huge mistake in sports, and tbh, I’ve improved my abilities in skiing, soccer, and track n field prioritizing quads, training hammies have never really given me noticeable improvement, that said, I still train them, understand their function and uses, I train my adductors, and hip abductors and glutes more than hams, but I was gifted with long large hams some people maybe need to train them more.

But why quads? Can the hamstrings get some love

I've been murdering the back of my legs, hammys, etc. on leg day lately. People forget how important those muscles are. Leg day can't just be squats and calf raises haha

This maybe a better test of overall strength, I was more interested in how quad endurance plays a role in skiing vs hamstrings and glutes.

IE I’ve never heard anyone say my glutes or my hamstrings are on fire after skiing 100,000 vertical today ….at the same time, I realize the importance of those muscles for the rest of the legs to do their job and we cannot have imbalances, at least I can’t.

That said, I’d still play, but I’d not expect to win, DL is a weak lift for me with 3-5 sets of 15 reps with a 1-2 tempo, 1:30 rest with 275

I’d rather do a deadlift comp over squats.

Agreed with all of this. Zombie, front, goblet, sissy, and any hell-elevated squat especially targets quads.

Idk what zombie squat is, but ya def won’t find me doing sissy squats, at this point I highly recommend people avoid them, imo they’re doing nothing for you, def go lead to an injury, does not offer something that is not offered by a better exercise, so I’d X that one. Ya wanna use the most efficient exercise to develop, and add in athletic movements so ya don’t end up losing agility etc, and ya def don’t wanna get injured and go backwards. Now that’s my opinion, maybe a sissy squat offers something I’m unaware of, and is not compromising joints like I think, I’ll listen and read research if provided, but for now imo they’re not useful.

I basic only squat slightly wider than hip width, with barely turned out toes, everyone should stand where’s natural don’t try to force a posture not meant for you bc some idiot influencer says so, core bracing and breathing get 1st priority, bar path, then tempo and time, I only back squat, do jump thrusts and bulgarian split squats and thrusts, no other forms of squat.

I’m ok with front squats, goblet and elevated heel squats if ya wanna shift the muscle prioritized, I just don’t use them for my needs and goals.
