Favorite punk bands

Youre one of those people who thinks they know more than everyone else, and also ur one of those people that think just because it didnt come from the sex pistols that its not "real" punk. Punk today is the same as it was back then, its just evolved a little. Just like how 50 cent is still considered rap although he doesnt rap just like public enemy and run dmc.(sorry... bad example) Also, who are u to say whats punk or not?? I admit emo's not punk but thats because its a different form of music, but just because emo's "in" right now doesnt mean that every band out there is emo. Plus(not just u) but i hate it when people say that a bands not punk anymore just because they're on the radio. If theyre on the radio that just means that they were good enough to get recognized and isnt that what every band out there wants to do. Now i agree, its not cool to go and change ur style once u get noticed to appeal to more mainstream people but maybe the bands just evolving and getting better over time and thats why they're getting noticed when they do. Sorry for all that but thats my 2 cents, so ill shut up now.

I don't even get what that means man. You are sort of just putting words in my mouth since I don't even listen to that much old punk. I don't really have an outdrawn opinion on it or anything. There are a shitload of older bands that are considered punk and I already described how all the new sub genres of punk evolved from punk.

Punk is a LARGE ass genre. You might as well narrow down bands to there subgenres and all that crap so that you can more refine how they actually sound.

Emo is also not "in" right now. Pretty much everyone dislikes it and has jumped on the "Emo is for fags" train. And you are right, every band out there isn't emo..so I don't understand how you were trying to stab at me with that.

And to your comment about the whole radio/MTV reference...In another post I stated how Rise Against appeared on MTV before, yet I still think they are an awesome ass band and really dont care. Postal Service was on the radio, and I can dig them. Thrice, Beastie Boys, and Modest Mouse...all great bands that made it on the radio.

And by the way, I frankly don't give a shit if you don't like me. Your whole previous statement really didn't have any meaningful allogations against me.

Ok sorry jibtastic, its just that u came off in a bad way. I guess i was kinda putting words in ur mouth but some things i stand by. U just sounded like one of those kids that says the only "real" punk is from back in the 70's and 80's and that all punk bands out there now suck. But i guess ur not. I think the pic of farva just gave me the wrong impression.

they are ok, but.... I just saw a Rancid video on tv (well at least not mtv) and it had Kelly Osborne in the video and the lead singer of Good Charlott in it. they are still decent but damnit... and tim armstrong is in the transplants, and that band is on mtv and shit.

i got into rise against some month ago and their musik is one of the best i ever heard. i also like a wilhelm scream and my chemical romance pretty much lately, even though you could say MCR isnt really punk

not really. it was from indistructable, which is by far their worst album. its not horrible but...

And to Jibtastic, modern emo and hardcore are ridiculously alike. I'm not talking about emo like Fall Out Boy, but screamo. If you think of 80's hardcore when you think of hardcore, then you would have a point. But you don't, because you just consider those bands punk. I know this because you listed them as punk bands (Minor Threat, Black Flag, these are all 80's hardcore bands.)

so i saw agnostic front the other night...yea be jealous....it was probably the best show ive been to, and ive been to a lot of shows. the atmosphere and everything was just great. they played with champion and outbreak...who also kicked ass.
