Its funny, I actually drove an E30 M3 every day in High School. It was back in 2005 before they became really sought after and it was just an extra car we had. I would park it on the street away from school so it would not get door dinged etc. Then after I graduated my Dad ended up selling it for around $10,000 and about 8 months later the market went crazy and it was prob worth max $60,000 and down to about $40,000 today.

I've never personally driven one. I researched purchasing one a while back.

They're supposed to be phenomenal drivers cars as is most anything Lotus. It would likely feel underpowered by today's standards but that goes for almost all Vintage cars. I was primarily looking at S3 and S4, 2.0L and 2.2L turbo cars. The very last and low production models would likely still be pretty fast. They're very cool imo and if you want something super fast and cheap just go buy a mustang or molar if you don't care about reliability in your new vehicle.
