My new favourite thing to do when skiing is go up the lift with strangers and say “Hey Siri, play Thrift Shopping by Macklemore.” They never say anything, just awkward silence but I can feel their vibes. In their head they’re thinking “is this dude fr rn??”

No, im not, im actually listening to Katy Perry. But it got me thinking. What is ur fav aspect of skiing that doesnt involve riding.

Landing a new trick, skiing a new peak, floating in the air, winning a comp… dont forget the perfect carve turn! Theres too much I love about skiing

Not my absolute favorite aspect, but I friggin love smoke shacks. I love searching for new ones while I ski. I love going to shacks with great views, that are in cool spots or are built in a really interesting way. I think the thought and care that go into some of them are super neat, and I love the whole “secret area” aspect. Like you don’t truly know your home resort until you know where all the good smoke spots are tbh.

my top 5 favorite smoke shacks are:

1) the treehouse near hyland hills: scary to climb at night, huge tree house with 2 floors and deck 30 feet up in a tree.

2) three bears shack at bridger bowl: RIP, had an amazing view of the crazies and was always quiet.

3) the spirit mountain big park shack: so well hidden and cozy, like if you didn’t know it was there you can look right at it and not see it.

4) bridger bowl dabbin cabin: great location and lots of amenities like benches, glove racks and trash bags. Always crowded though.

5) the nest at Trollhaugen: brought to you by anon, not so much a thing anymore but good spot w/ fire pit, benches and right nearby the park out of the way.

Recently I’ve mostly been enjoying not skiing, smuggly looking at traffic and lift lines, and going for a trail run instead

I love getting out of my everyday places and going somewhere else. If you ski every day and maybe have a pass at one place this probably isn't a thing for you.

When people ask what my favorite ski area is I don't know what to say, "variety".

Spring days when snow is soft and the entire mountain is like a party. Skiing around with no gloves and getting a goggle tan and drinkin beer. Good vibes only

getting to argue with a bunch of 16 year olds on a ski website and recommend 189 vishnus with pivots to anyone regardless of skill, ability and or height

1. marking my territory by peeing in the same trees every time I go up

2. Friendly heckling from the lift

3. Asking people random questions about their gear (so do you like your poles?) or something like that

4. Whippin the subie up in the snow

5. bumping music on the lift with my freinds, straight from my phone

6. I second the snot rockets

Landing a trick you’ve been fighting with and then getting this post nut/trick clairity and being super grateful for your filmer and stuff

talking with homies on the chairlift, or being apart of the atmosphere in the park, seeing everyone try their best, just the stoke of seeing people stomp new tricks and everyone cheering them on.

My favorite part is when people ski in front of the unloading ramp when you're getting off. Its the only time you're allowed to shoulder-check gapers to the ground.

When there's a chump blasting crappy music in the liftline I ask if they take requests. Then I have em play smokey Joe's cafe by the coasters and then everybody can listen to something that's not ear raping them while we wait.

when I was a liftie in JH we created a map when the conditions were shit. That list of mapped shacks grew into the mid 20's... some are different now. but places like the blue room aren't going anywhere

You should dm me that map. I never have time to find the cool spots when I get to go out west. Are there any at Keystone or Breck?

The rattling clunking noise you get from chairlifts, no particular reason, I just like it.

the older and sketchier the lift, the better the noise. I love the sound of skis clanking together and smacking the ground too
