Fauna Skis - looking for people to promote our skis.

Since starting, we've been lacking on much of anything which you would consider a team of skiers to help get the word out on Fauna Skis and that's certainly not because we don't want to support committed freeskiers, by, at minimum, providing them with equipment to ride on.

Real talk for sec, Fauna skis was my brainchild and with no outside private investors, only help from friends and family, some government small-business support and my own day job wage, I've got it from an idea for a single pair of skis in a ski building thread here on NS, to where it is today. It's for this reason, because of the cost of the short factory runs of skis I've been able to make, I'm limited to the skis I can just give out in the hope of returns.

With that understanding, we're looking for people to ride on our skis, spread the word and through getting others stoked on the skis to buy them themselves, we will return your cost of buying skis from us, effectively giving you free skis.

If you want to help a small, independent euro ski brand grow, are in need of a new pair of skis, like the look and sizes of our Alparka or Pioneer skis, keep reading.

Do you have an influence on people’s ski buying decisions? Whether that can be easily gauged from videos of your skiing, a string of contest results or by the thousands of followers you have on social media, or none of these and something different, for lack of a better title, the Fauna Skis Ambassador Programme is for you.

We would love to be able to just send you skis and let you use your influence to encourage others to buy them but, Fauna Skis is a small, self-funded business with small runs of skis and we can't afford to work that way on any scale right now. That is why we have come up with a model in which, if you buy skis using our ambassadors discount and really have got the skills and influence to encourage people to buy our skis, you’ll get back the money you spent on a pair of our skis quickly, and we’ll work however we can to support you.

How it Works

Fill out the short application form in the link with your name & email, IG handle & NS username (if you have either or both of them) and tell us why you think you would represent Fauna Skis well, and how you could get more people out having sick days on our skis. Once approved you’ll get your own discount code, which will get you 20% off any pair of our skis and a free t-shirt or hat.

After you’ve got your skis, anybody using your code will get 15% off the price of our skis. We'll keep track and keep you informed on the use of the codes and once 3 other people have used your code to buy their own skis, we will refund you the money you spent buying them, and you will of course get to keep your skis & merch.

Other ways you can get your skis for free as an Ambassador

If you’ve got a contact in a shop you get to start stocking our skis; you’re part of or know a ski club or team that you get to buy our skis, once they get in contact and buy the same value amount of skis as 3 people buying skis off the site, you’ll get your money back. Or if you’ve got an idea that we’ve not thought of that results in the same amount of sales as above, you’ll get your money back on skis.

If you already own a pair of Fauna Skis and want to become an ambassador, fill out the application and we’ll sort you out with a code for you to share and work toward getting the money back for your skis.

Honestly the Pioneer looks like it could be a fun park ski. Does it have a good bit of twin in the rear?

Yeah it's got a tail height around the same as the Alparkas at 57mm.

1028388.jpegThey're also built with the same thick base and edge as the Alparkas, so no difference in the durability there. Low overall and swing weight. Also rides best with a more centred weight stance, rather than needing to charge them hard to get the best out of them.

Those look like they have tons of camber. Also I like the idea of the ambassador program. Seriously considering it.

And 175 is perfect length wise for me. Not nearly good enough or have the following for the sponsor thing. But gonna consider them for my next park skis

People, I swear you won’t regret jumping on some fauna’s. I have absolutely loved mine. If I didn’t like them, I would be quiet about them but I absolutely love mine. Super impressed. Can’t get enough of them. I was in the park yesterday and boy were they fun.

Jump on this program if you’re able!

They do have a substantial amount of camber, they come out the factory a little camber high accounting for the initial flattening when they get flexed when riding them the first time.

If I had more than like 150 followers I would totally consider doing this

I’m relaxed about insta follower count, maybe those 150 people really value what you say or post about, maybe you've got connections to people that don't follow you on insta,

Our skis are pretty unique, people are always asking questions on chairs about them, maybe you're a talkative person and you can spread the word that way without ever posting on Instagram.

We've had pre-production versions made in the factory ([tag=273152]@BradFiAusNzCoCa[/tag] got a pair) and NS have a pair for a review

The plan is to do a pre-order this spring for delivery in the fall.

I dont have any social media but I am a part of my schools ski club but I'd love to rip a pair on the east coast. I'll fill the form out anyways

Happy to answer any and all questions you have based on my experience with them. They’re the ski I’m grabbing most days here in Colorado

Also i really like how your skis are on the more affordable side which is really nice for me, I'm sure it's probably not east considering your a smaller business

Just sent in an application. I am really interested in the Omni skis. I am a pretty tall guy (6' 2") so I would be looking to hop on the 182s (or longer if you guys do any custom stuff!).

Super stoked to hear back from you guys!

Skiing needs more small companies like this that put their love for skiing into a product that gives back! I completely understand the need for having riders that rep your skis though. Watching team riders for ON3P, Line, and Surface has definitely been a huge motive for me and my friends to purchase skis.

Working on a few video parts this season and would love to have your guys' skis repped!

Get your company on expertvoice and you will get everyone from ski instructors to small time comp skiers on your gear

I have no social media and have ridden 4FRNT since 2007 but you do make a convincing argument...

My god these top sheets are classy:

pioneer-1200x12000-1.png

These kind of look like the ski design from around 2012 when skis still had camber but a lot of rocker and tapered tips to bounce through powder. It makes for a really fun ski IMO. Even on groomers they are fun because you can carve with the camber then slarve turn a little to bleed speed and transition between the two.

Having social media isn't a pre-requisite. I’m looking for a variety of people who are stoked on the skis, to spread the word to get more people stoked on the skis, in whatever way best suits them.

The omni he is developing is going to be like a blend

Thanks, yeah the Omni is a soft playful ski.

The Alparka is stiffer under foot and relatively soft in the nose as tail

The pioneer is stiffer again under foot than the alparka softening out into the tip and tail

No park ski over 180cm?

Yet...

The alparka would measure 180 if we measured the skis like the rest of the big brands, using the flat material length.

I was limited in the skis I could produce and settled on the 178 and 170 initially. Factory minimums play a big part in how fast I can expand.

You could legit have 50 followers if 3 of them buy skis. The point is having enough clout to convince others to buy them whether it’s on social media or just doing insane shit on them at your local hill and talking to everyone about the skis etc.

Send me your skis and I will write one article and then cynically complain about them to all of my friends while also arguing to the death that they are the best skis ever made.

Take it or leave it

This guy gets it.

I’ve sold just as many skis directly through Instagram as I have face to face and through word of mouth.

What if I buy a bunch of ads and you ski on them for 10 mins on a groomer, will you make the alparka park ski of the year…oh wait this isn’t freeskier mag.

Haha I wondered when somebody might accuse me of running a pyramid scheme.

there are no untold riches to be found here, this is freeskiing.

there is no recruiting other ambassadors for “your gain”, it would work against you as they’d be using their code, not yours.

its all about the skis, you buy them, if you get a few others to buy them too, you get your money back, that’s it.

Maybe give some skis to talented local rippers? I wouldn’t want some guy trying to sell me skis on the lift on on ig. We’re all broke as fuck and just buying the cheapest sticks we can find

They remind me of Salomon Rocker2s

It's definitely something I want to do in the future, just not something I can do right now with the short production runs and limited finance I'm working with.

Brands supporting local riders keep the local scene alive, promoting the hills the majority of riders ski on, not just the massive top parks out west & in the big euro resorts and that's something we definitely need more of.

As for people trying to sell you on the skis, a more direct approach might work on some people but not on others and the ambassadors will work that out. I don't know about you but I'd rather have real people stoked on the skis promoting them than annoying sponsored posts clogging up your feed.

As for the cost of the skis, I totally understand that, it's why they're priced the way they are, I've been the broke skier working summers to pay for skis, doing repairs yourself and riding them until they fall apart.

rocker2s were one of the skis I tried and enjoyed riding early on in the design process, so there's a bit of inspiration from them in there.

Only took a couple months and that’s the first ambassador making the sales to get them over the line on getting their skis for free, after they connected us with Powder 7 in Golden,CO who will be stocking our Pioneers in store very soon and more next season.
