No, I'm this isn't another thread about Sam Caylor, I'm referring to the trend of ski widths. I've noticed over the years an influx in the wider bases of skis and I think it's awesome. I think the wider they get the less painfull it will be to land huge cliff hucks, since the force will be spread around a bigger surface area. Any thoughts?

i tend to agree, even tho i'm all east coast style, may not be as specified for our icy hardpack but the wider the platform the more stable the landing. I like a wider platform for rails too, but there are limits, although they're all fatter than before which is sweet, there are some twins that just wont work in east coast style snow, common sense once again is key

think its good that skiis are getting fatter, you get a more stabil ski when you land and in speed, and they look so much more pimptastic

wider skis are good, but i dont think that they should get much wider

I definitly think that fat skis are good for skiing, but there is a limit. Lik the ski the Line made for Pollard last season, The Prophet. Those are so god damn huge (130 mm waist). I mean, I realie that it makes it possibal to land fakie in powder and the like, but that might be a little too much.

i hope the park/pipe skis in the future will be around 85 - 90 waist thats the ultimate for me

haha, my friend had a pretty cool idea (purely for fun) he saw two identical alpine snowboards which have an awesome sidecut and are not very wide. well you get the idea.

i just skied on sugardaddys and the snow was hardpacked.they were fun as hell but holy shit i dont know how people can ski on anything fatter when its not powder. i mean i know they can but its pretty fucking hard
