Depends on what your definition of 'fat' is....My definition is probably anything over 95 waist ie. Nordica W105 or Spatula. It's just not that uncommon to see a 85 waisted ski..

To answer your question, yes...most 'fat' skis rip. REX, G4, Pocket Rocket, Little Big Fat, Seth Pistol, Intuitiv BIG, K2 AK Launcher.....even the Line Motherships---i've ridden em' all and they all rip.

WIfreerider- where do you ski?? I really don't think it's that bad to have a fatty in WI depending on where you ride or where you travel to ride...know of LOTS of boys from Wisconsin that ride where I do that ski fatties (100+ waist INCLUDING the spatual). Granted they're not breaking out the fatties IN wisconsin, but that's not to say they don't own a pair...

 
I'd say 90mm is fat.

and why use a fat ski on corduroy? it was made to be ridden in the pow. a slimmer ski 70-85mm would be much better.

I don't think that an 86mm waist is fat anymore. I would call it mid-fat (since there are skis with waists of 95+). Of course, some reviews still call 75mm waists 'mid-fat.' The only truly skinny skis these days are the GS ones, but they need it.

85-90 + is fat.

The skis have changed so much in the last 2 years it is constantly changing what is fat.

it used to be 80+

now its 85-90 + for fat

75-80 is mid fat
