Fat skis in the east

ok, i know that the fat skis are mad for pow and that. but when i heard people going on about how good the seth pistols are in the park it makes me wonder. are these fat skis n e good for just regular skiing, as in groomed (east coast style), ice and shit?

theyre not bad on groomed runs, they turn about the same as a GS ski. Im not sure about the Seth Pistols, but i demoed the Scratch BC and they held up really well on the ice.

For the park, theyre really good cause htey have lots of surface touching the ground, making them more stable.

the downside to that is that theyre alot heavier than standard park skis, making it a little harder to spin

if youre gonna ski at jay peak then youre gonna need wide skis. i have no clue about how they ride on grooms and ice

well, most bc park skis are like around a 88 waist. Isnt the 4frnt 180 skis waist 87? so really, you could takle them out for sure and theyd work

i don't really think that a really wide ski is necisairy, just get a semi wide ski, really man if u can find a ski u really like go with it, weather or not it's a fat ski, even tho fat is sick

i saw some dude with pocket rockets skiing at bromley last april, and he was kicking ass on them.....

i originally got pocket rockets for pow and a bit of park. But not only do they rock in the park and for pow, they're pretty good on ice, groomers etc.... they kinda suck in bumps though

a lot of all mountain skis are in the 80 waist range and they are all over the East. If I remember right the Armada 180's (AR5's) are 82 in the waist, and the 4Frnt 180's are 92 in the waist. So yeah they're big, but doesn't seem unreasonable.

Just something to think about.

 
aight thanks...i have 12's which are a 78 in the waist i think...i just like the look of the motherships but i see there 97 in the waist, tad wide i must say.

yeah fatskis are fine in the east as long as your a decent rider i havent known anyone to have trouble with em

i thought the scratches skiied pretty horrible on groomers like way to soft and i only weigh 150 pounds. I demoed them for 2 weeks last season it was the first twin i ever rode and i hated em way to soft when i tried to lay them down.
