Fat skis in park ?

next season im thinking of rocking sir francis bacons as my only ski. i ski a park but i dont do big spins or anything, i just like to have a fun time. does anyone know if fat skis effect your spiining or your rail skills. +k for answers

It truly depends on what you do. If you hit plenty of rails, then fat skis will make locking on and switching up feel very laboured. They will be a lot less manoeuvrable and nimble in general on any sort of jib feature.

Performance is affected less on jumps. Once you're in the air, size doesn't really matter, all you have to worry about is swing weight and mount position, not width really. That said, spinning anything past a 7 will increase in difficulty. Inverts, doubles, and fast rotations will all be more difficult simply because pow/AM skis are generally heavier, longer, and mounted further back, so you will feel a different weight distribution when spinning than with a jib ski

I rock my bents in the park, obviously if you are doing bigger jumps more than 35 I would want a park ski but anything less you should be fine.

ye, if they're really fat they will make it difficult spinning, especially off rails, as well as switch-ups. I would suggest getting full-tilts, they'll even out the weight.

I took my 'bents out at the end of the season and rode the park all day, they were fine on the jumps but switching up on rails seemed harder than normal

as far as spinning or rails, i haven't noticed a whole ton.

although i don't spin higher than 7, fat skis are super fun. i love big jumps on fat skis and just doing 1s or 3s super slow. you just have such a massive landing pad.

i ride 182 bacons as well as park skis, and i can do every single trick (rails included) on both skis. so you really just have to get used to it. although i generally don't ride my bacons in park, when i do i have a great time.

yeah, pretty much.

I ski lizzies as my park skis. They are super fun skis, although scissoring and trying to link things to switch ups can be a pain due to their size. I picked up some HH pros for next year and they should compliment each other well. If I'm going up to hike rails, I'll use the HH pros, if I just want to have fun and cruise, I'll break out the lizzies.

I have been riding exclusively lizzies for 3 years and they are the dopest funnest park ski ever. I find they perform awesomely in the black park and on any rail set up. They slay.

i have never done it but it looks pretty fun especially if their rockered. i feel like on rails you could butter and slide around really easy

fat skis are mad fun in the park. just think about this, when it dumps youll be used to throwing tricks on the bigger sticks

I don't know enough, but pow skis look sooo dope in the park. They also look hella playfull with hella flex for some sick buttering.

How would a pair of Lizzies of Hellbents hold up on the grooms for a nice carve? Or crud? Like them for their pow and I've heard they're sick in park (heresay) but not sure everywhere else?

Good fun. Just have to land them a little carefully if you're going large and have mounted them forward, they're so soft that it's kinda easy to suddenly eat the ground if you land heavily in the front seat. Likewise easy to wheelie if you land heavily in the back.
Spin easier than my Hellbents did too, mind you I've never spun either past a 3.

Also Garrett Russel and Eric Pollard. They seem to have a ton of fun on fat skis in the park. I'd love to own a pair of lizzies.

Thanks! +K Those are a little out of my price range. Pooey. Anyone know a ski similar to this but cheaper? Around 105 width, soft flex with a good amount of rocker. Fujas?

Fujas sounds like what you're talking about. it's not the same as the S7 though. S7 is 115 underfoot and has a '5 dimensional' shape- Kung Fujas has a normal sidecut. Skis similar to the S7 are JJ's and CRJ's. Another option if you're looking for more all mountain with some rocker would be Line Blends...

I find rails with my 90 waisted park skis easier to do swaps and way easier to lock on. But going that wide such as 'bents and bacons and such, that would definitely be harder. But in the edits those guys looked fine

my obsethed's arent exactly "fat" skis they are 104 under foot. but the tip is like 130ish and the tail is 120ish. however, they are more fun to ride in park than my armada AR6 park skis. so to answer your question. fat skis in park are the cats pajamas.
