Fat People (rant)

hahaha. the best fucking thing read today. thank you, you've made my day.

and by the wat, your absolutly right

True, but why is this gene being passed down so contiually in the U.S.? Other parts of the world arnt as fat

Agreed, I hate fat people. They shouldn't be allowed to take the bus, that way they'd have to walk everywhere.

And how can one be fat and homeless? I just don't get that.

"but also the goverment should step in and create guidelines for food production so you cant buy a whole fucking cow in a burger that costs $2"

WHAT!?! are you serious. you want the Government, some far of place in Washington to tell McDonalds what it can and cannot sell in a free market economy. Are you out of your Aussie mind?! God damn it i want people to make up their minds to get healthy, not some asshole in washington. They have their hands deep enough in the rest of my life, why on earth would i want them cooking my dinner. We already have the food pyrimid, thats good enough. People know what they should and shouldnt be eating AND they know how much. Being ignorent to the facts and then cryin foul is pathetic and I for one wont stand for it.

its because they be scared of lookin like fat bastard at tha end of austin powers 3. shit betta to be fat than to have all tha extra skin and a vagina neck.

I agree with Quinny. Barring any medical complications or genetic disorders, I've got no respect for fat people. "Oooh, its an addiction to food, oooh I've got no willpower."

Look, if you are addicted to anything, its your fucking fault. I don't respect Alcholics, Nicotine Addicts or Drug Addicts either. You got yourself into the fucking mess, get yourself out of it. And stop draining my fucking health care system you fat fucks.

The way I see what he meant by "medical condition" is any psychological condition (depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder or such) OR any physical condition (?) that makes someone prone to gaining weight. Nonetheless, I don't believe this gives a person the privilege of being fat. Instead, they should be seeing a doctor and treating their problem. And I don't hate fat people so much as people that are fat and don't hate themselves enough to be doing something about it. ok that was mean, i'm done

if you have some overactive liposome or whatever, then its up to you to work your fat ass out more fucking often to make up for it.

I think the healthiest country in the world would be the Netherlands. I was over there for a WW2 trip and while we were in Holland I didnt see a SINGLE fat person it was really weird. The thing is Holland is so small most people go about their daily lives on bikes, they even have bike specific roads/sidewalks with traffic lights on them. Then their diet is incredibly healthy and its hard to find a fast food place anywhere outside of Amsterdam (Easy to find in Amsterdam because everyone has the munchies). Its a really incredible place and those people have a long life expectancy that many of us fat north americans can only wish for. Go for a bike fatasses.

I think Quinny just saw the show on TLC: The 1000 pound man and the 700 pound women.

Still, overweight is a serious medical condition. The risk of a heart attack and stroke is through the roof and in space. The problem is that certain grossely obese people let it happen to them.Insted of walking 3 miles, they take their car.Its like exercise for them is not a priority.

A sexy body doesn't have 150 pounds of fat.Jsut to give you an idea, I weigh 155 and I have 8.9% body fat on me, which is 14lbs of fat.

Im a skinny bitch not because I diet but because I have a fast metabolism which is fantastic....sadly though im 6' 145LBS with a 5% body fat rating

"I am talking about the fucking beached orcas that are hundreds of pounds over a normal weight."

heh. okay so that was kind of funny but seriously, once you get overweight its really hard to lose it again. so why dont you shut up about stuff you dont understand? being fat doesnt mean anything.

yeah i agree with quinney. that was a hilarious rant. oh and lord piot, your a fucking fatass too so shut the hell up

I understand what you are saying but i think it could potentially be the parents fault, kids don't buy grocceries.. parents do so they control what their kids eat from the start. And then feeding them the wrong foods gets them addicted to it, where they crave it and then more and more. My best friends little sister was that way, her parents fed her shit food, she got alittle chubby in 4th grade.. not like bad though. Some kids started making fun of her relentlessly where she would come home cry and eat everyday and now shes majorly overweight. So i think that it might not be as easy as you are saying, i think many kids want to lose the weight they just need help. But there are others that do it on self determination, i had a friend who did the south beach diet, she lost alot of weight. So not all diets are failures... you just have to pick the right one and choose your meals correctly.

i was trying to laugh quietly being that im in my schools library and it didnt quite work out and now everyone is staring at me...damn it

i think they give america a bad name and stereotype us all as fat lazy bastards. I don't think it should be socially acceptable to be fat. And honestly, if noone gives the effort to lose some weight no matter who they are, then they deserve to be fat and lonely.

well it was weird cause yesterday i read this and then went out to the mall and lunch... i saw some of the biggest people ive ever seen, and like a ton of them. Maybe it's just Ohio, cause in NY i don't see this many walkin around in the malls, and in Johnny Rockets, there wasnt a single person working there under 200 lbs, im not saying this to be mean in anyway but it was just ironic.

let me guess you still live at home with mom and dad and they buy your food, well let me tell you that trying to buy healthy food like skinless bneless chicken and low fat shit etc....is expensive so rich people or people with the means to eat healthy can and the ones who dont make alot of money are stuck eating cheap food like pork chops and hamburger helper so before you kids who dontr have tro support families and shit talk about crap you know nothing about why dont you go out and see how much it costs to live healthy without mom and dad buying it for you

that must be nice man i have to work everyday to stay in shape i have a slow metabolism and you dont that musty be nice so dont talk shit about people who have issues you dont have to deal with, the majority of you guys on this site are kids still and have fast metabolisms and shit wait till you get older and this shit hits you like alot of people in this country and you'll be the first to say why do people talk so much shit to me cause im fat

There was a thing on TV the other day about this fat dude who just plain refused to accept that he was fat because he ate too much. Doctors calculated that he had to eat 15000 calories a day to sustain his weight. I hated him, not only becasue he was fat but because he was a hoorible person as well.

I think hating all fat people is a taking things too far though, clearly there is an element of willpower involved and a simple equation, eat less calories than you burn can hardly be too much for them to get their brains around. The thing is that these aren't the only issues, it comes down to a lot of other complex factors.

For example it's been proven that dopamine receptors in the brain are affected by fatty, salty and sugary foods in a similar way that they are affected by addictive drugs. Can you really hate a fat kid because his parents have got them hooked on junk food? How about if in school all they have to eat is junk food. There's been a massive campaign in the U.K. about school meals because feeding kids rubbish, unsuprisingly creates fat kids, who then become fat adults.

Whoever said about poor people being fatter, it's true, but that doesn't mean we take their food stamps away. It means we should educate them on healthy food and stop them buying the CHEAP junk that makes them fat.

Being fat isn't just about personal choice, it's more complex than that. I think it's less about individuals and more about the way developed society in general and America in particular has changed. There's so much marketing of junk food that people can think it's the only food available.

Hating on fat people is easy, why not try and be a bit more tolerant?

You know as an adult i can understand the need to rant about things that piss you off i do it all the time so now as an adult i am going to rant a little bit ok so if you cant obide by Quinny's rules dont read the rest of this.....

I am 26 I am female and i am over wieght i also have 4 kids and am pregnant with my 5th that really takes its tole on a womans body i know that i can lose most of the wieght but i am still gonna be over wieght even with excersize and diet (which by the way i cant afford with that many children) and yes i know that having that many kids is my own damn fault and i am not complaining about that what i am complaining about is the ignorance of some of you children for acting the way you are towards over weight people grow up if you dont like it dont look and yes i already said that i am over wieght so dont comment on my wieght i dont really care what a bunch of children have to say and as for it being genetic yes part of it is and part of it is this thing called a thyroid that can be over active which makes you really skinny or it can be under active which can make you fat so there you go thats my rant

Hehe, Whatever, I really think its getting funny, where in some circumstances I have been mocked for being skinny, eating a salad, going out and being active. But then I came up with the ultimate comeback. At least I can look down and see my dick

Where do you buy your food? Antarctica? Eating healthy is NOT any more expensive then eating fattening crap. Eating healthy doesn't mean buying inflated priced food at a specialty dealer.

Here is a tip: Go to a grocery store, buy individual items, and COOK YOU OWN FOOD! When you cook things, you have more control over what you eat.

I'm in college and always on the cheap. I can make super healthy stuff from scratch for dirt cheap.

Staying thin takes some initiative. Its not the actual fact the people are fat that bothers me, its that they have no initiative to better themselves. There is something seriously wrong with your head if you don't consider your personal health important. Being healthy prolongs your life, makes you more active and productive, and thus happier.

The increasing amount of overweight people in the US is a very significant topic. But I think we need to be a little more mature manner and address the issue in an adult manner instead of trying to be the next maddox or tucker max.

Wouldn't it be nice if a logical solution was presented by someone, instead of just seeing how many times we can think of a funny way to state a problem. I think i'll take up that role.

The problem with extreme obesity lies in society itself. You must look at the general spectrum. Do you really think the problem is as simple as these people choosing to eat too much?

Let's take a look at the role of a single mother for instance raising 2 children. The mother is a lower-middle class mom working to raise 2 chilren making $20,000 a year. She did not go to college, because her family couldn't afford it. By herself, she needs to pay for all expenses. Food, clothing, rent, utilities, etc. Working over 40 hours a week is hard enough let a lone trying to raise 2 children. One night she gets a home from a long day at work. She is exhausted. She needs to eat as well as her children. She has two choices:

1)she can get out the necessary items to prepare a dinner, cook dinner, perhaps force her chilren to eat something they don't want to eat, then clean up dinner.

2)She can get in the car, take a 5 minute drive to a fast food place, order food for her children that they will like, and she will not have to clean dishes.

I wonder which option she will choose?

Sadly many choose #2. To them it's the best way to go. It's fast, easy, and they don't have to worry about anything. That doesn't just go for fast foods either. Nobody has mentioned how storebought food has changed now. You would not believe the amounts of fats and salts used a preservatives in foods. This is so there is no preparation. The food can simply be thrown into the microwave and eaten 5 minutes later. A lot of people can't seem to find the time to sit down and make an actual meal. It has to do with the overall quality of food we're eating more than just how much of it we're eating.

Now you also have to look at psychological aspects. If someone let themself to become 300 lbs... do you really think that they are going to care about themselves? Some of you are saying "wow if i was that fat, i'd work really hard to lose the weight." Yes that is all well and fine, but thats coming from a person who isn't 300 lbs. To a lot of these people, they look at themselves and see losing the weight as an unconquerable challenge. When you're that big, it's hard to imagine yourself being skinny again. Food often gives these people comfort. If they're depressed about it already, they'll eat more. This actually happened to my aunt. She gained weight, then looked at her self being that way forever. So she didn't care anymore. She did what made her happy. Eat.

The only way to change what is happening is to change society. The first thing i'd propose is something very simple:

-Every single person in the US is required to see a nutritionist once a year. If you do not have insurance, the government will provide the service to you. Seeing a nutritionist once a year would be a great proactive start. Even with someone like the single mom, a nutritionist can help her think of appropriate meals that are easy as well as healthy.

Even if it costs the government a chunk of money now, the amount of money we'd save on health costs in years to come would be incredible.

I'd like to not get as radical as putting them in concentration camps and killing them off.

Okay, new rule. On every future disclaimer I am putting "I AM NOT 100% SERIOUS" in bold, size 300, flashing, neon green, font. I really shouldn't have to explain it 50 times to people.

Back on topic.

You want a more mature response? Here you go...

You're right, it would be nice if someone presented a logical solution. Unfortunately what you said was neither a solution or logical.

What is a nutritionist going to tell people that they don't already know? All the nutritionist will do is run a few tests and say, "I recommend you try switching to a more healthy diet of blah blah blah, and perhaps try and engage in more physical activities such as blah blah blah." Or even worse, he could prescribe medication...that will cost more and create many more problems than solutions.

It wouldn't even work in your example of the single mother. How is going to a nutritionist every year going to keep her from buying fast food? She will still have the same amount of income, she will still have the same amount of bills, she will still have the same amount of kids, and she will still come home from work exhausted...and still go to McDonalds to get food because spending at least 2 hours of her life visiting that nutritionist changed NOTHING. Her life will still be just as stressful was before. You use the stressful life example for an excuse, but your solution doesn't do anything to solve it.

Being fat is completely up to the individual. A government funded nutritionist isn't going to force people into doing anything. It will just be one more "stressful" thing they'll need to deal with. Its just a great way to throw away everyone's tax money.

Psychological issues aside, it doesn't change the fact that being fat is STILL YOUR FAULT (baring medical circumstances, etc.). This is not about "finding a cure." Obesity is NOT a disease. Its about people taking responsibility for their own actions.

There are ONLY two ways to solve this problem.

1) The Government steps in and forces people to eat right. (totalitarianism anyone?)

2) People take responsibility for being fat and do something about it.

Who should suffer? The group, or the individual?

My opinion is still unchanged.

Quinny, my man. i truly, from the bottom of my heart thank you for using your time usefully. this is one of the most needed, thought out, and to-the-point posts on newschoolers. great job expressing the views of us fatty haters.

i just want to point this out. this is taken from your rant on feminists:

"Feminists are commonly cynical. So are teenagers. Nuff said. Cynics are typically negative people that love to get on a high horse and take jabs at anything they please. Granted there are some people that are actually intelligent and clever at it...but this is a VERY SMALL minority (these people tend to be more realistic and do hold some thing in positive regard). 99.9999% of cynical people are just whiney little bitches that have low self-esteem. They try to make themselves feel better by tuning to something destructive instead of constructive. How many successful self proclaimed cynics are there? I could count them on one hand...after all my fingers had been amputated due to severe frost bite last winter when I had to resort to cannibalism by eating young children to survive in the blizzard that turned out to be a daycare field trip gone horribly wrong...

*Clears Throat*

Cynics are pseudo-intellectuals that think the worst of EVERYTHING. That kind of outlook is about as useful as a shit-flavored-sandwich. Congratufuckinglations! You're a mediocre person! Would it kill you to try and achieve something positively? You wont earn anything if you are negative a-l-l-t-h-e-f-u-c-k-i-n-g-t-i-m-e!!!!!"

i think this little excerpt goes nicely with your last post, especially the last paragraph.

don't get me wrong i really enjoy your rants. i think they're funny, but i don't agree with them most of the time, and i think you have the wrong attitude towards a lot of things. but i dont feel like getting into it.

its almost completely your own fault if you are like the very high majority of the time, my anatomy teacher explained it recently when some kid asked. you eat shitty and alot of it, you are going to get fat. the slow metabolism is part of it, but if you ate healthy and exercized and had a slower one, you wouldnt be fat. most people that are fat and say they have a slow metabolism actually dont.

Staying on topic...

I'm reinforcing what I said earlier. The individual dictates whether (s)he is fat or not. How can it be otherwise? Under normal circumstances, the individual has control over what (s)he chooses to eat. The individual also controls how they allocate their time. If you are fat and want to be less overweight, YOU need to work for it. If you want to lose weight, you need to manage your time and resources to allow it.

If another party steps in they wont accomplish anything, unless they force the person to do things. Therein lies the problem. You can't force people to do anything and still be civil.

If people are truly concerned and want a second party (government) involved, you will need to approach this differently. I however do not agree with this, but it is an option. You'll need to be able to provide some sort of incentive. The best I can gather is some sort of psychological reward (unless you want to try getting into the mess of having a material reward). It's sort of how HR departments work. Perhaps is people will fell some kind of appreciation when they are trying to loss wight, they'll keep at it...instead of quitting after 5 minutes. It works in the business world, so maybe it might be worth a go.

It has to be the individual that drives the effort. Thats because it is a problem only the individual can fix.
