Fastest you've gone on skis?

Between 80 and 85 mph doing tuck tests on the landing hill of the 90 meter nordic jump at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat.

Craziest feeling speed was when a friend of mine and I ran the Junior Olympic Downhill course on these:

60 to 65 mph on ski that are less then 2 feet long was an experience I never felt the urge to relive.

just because this thread has some insane claims, I'll clear it up- if you are claiming over 70mph you were most likely in a downhill suit and probably on super g skis or at least a FIS gs board, so you are kind of outing yourself as a racer

This is what I'm thinking one of the fastest speeds at Kitzbuhel in the straightaway to the finish for world cup downhill was 142km/h so to reach anywhere around that speed you probably have to be in a downhill suit with race boards

Probably like 50. I've heard you are usually going a lot slower than you think. My dad used to race and said he once estimated he was doing 100 and he was clocked at 60 or 65.

50 is still pretty fast though. I straightlined a pretty long black and was launching 60+ feet off these huge natural rollers on the green it connected to. Granted I was only a foot or so in the air but it felt awesome.

but they have just come out of a race course where they have to turn into gates, we are just finding a steep groomer and straightlining it

I have a really hard time believing anyone saying over 50 mph unless you have a speed suit on. This is based on clocking the super g speed camp at bristol.

prolly 40 at THE most. If I do this at my local hill I can go from the top of the lifts to the bottom in like 6 seconds haha

i wanna try a pair of race skis. my dads an ex racer so he has a shit ton of 12 plus foot skis. i bet ill go fat on those...

theres a whole lot of bullshit in this thread.

as it was said earlier, you need fast skis to fast. im assuming most of you ride 175ish park skis that you wax twice a year, and i dont think those could get much past 50mph under normal circumstances.

back when i used to race, i got clocked doing 62mph the one time i did super g, and that was pretty sick.

this. i always use the pair of skis with skulls and flames on them. i get an extra 5 out of my speed

Clocked 65 mph on phone GPS, slushy day on OneLifes. I assume I've passed 70 in prime conditions. For everyone claiming bullshit, its really not that hard. Just need a LONG steep groomer. Legs were definitely jello by the end.

lazy troll is lazy?

Alright, I've had friends clock 75mph on phone GPS when in all honesty they might have been doing 45mph. Nobody has ever hit 65mph in park skis and a XL jacket in any conditions let alone slush. Maybe if you straightlined birds of prey or something you could hit 65, but that's the limit in a baggy jacket, period.

we got up to 68 with park skis and our normal outerwear on. also important to note that that was at an east coast mountain.

clocked with a gun? thats pretty fucking legit if true, 68 is so fast people have no idea until they actually see it on the gun. Most people overestimate their speed by 30% until they get a run clocked with a gun. It's always humbling the first time you hear those numbers.
