Fastest video converter

what is the fastest video converter for converting videos to ipod format. Im using isquint but it takes me around an hour to convert a .avi movie to .mp4

handbrake works well for ripping dvd's i don't know if it works for conversions though.

at least for me, handbrake is real slow for ripping movies.....it usually takes like 2.5 hours for a single movie when i run it
