Fan Problem?

Ok so my Macbook all of a sudden got really hot. Before when I had to plugged in to the power adapter it would never get really hot but then today it's hot like I can't set it on my lap for more then a few minutes because it burns them. I did change the power setting from Normal to Better Performance but I'm not sure if that would make it really hot. I know on my last laptop the fan was broken which caused my hard drive to fail hence the reason I got a Macbook but should I check any settings or do anything difference with the power setting? It's still under warranty so if it happens to be a fan problem I'll take it down to the Apple store and have it fixed but I wanted to make sure I didn't screw anything up.

my macbook gets pretty hot and loud when i'm doing a good bit at once. didn't think it was really a problem. hmmm i'm going to have to check up on this. hopefully it's not a problem.

getting a cooling pad with a fan is highly recommended for mbs and mb pros. my mb pro gets redic hot. i never put it directly on my lap. usually on a chiller or my bag. but still, i'd sacrifice 3rd degree burns over having to use a cool pc.
