How does one get over 200k karma but have an overall rating in the 3s?

I thought 5/10 Karma was neutral and anything above raises your karma?
 
That is not true in this case because this is their forum score which discards any karma from photos videos news ect. They got their karma from creating threads.

He saw the world through ns icons. The movie a beautiful mind was partially based on the story of his life.
