Falling of Lift

Has this happened to any of you?? Today when I got on my ski got caught on a tree branch and I fell off the lift ~only bout 5ft up dint get hurt or nething just pretty damn embarressing.

During winter break, someone fell off a lift. I think he was unconscious as they were bringing him away, and he had tubes in his nose. I didn't see where he fell off from and I'm not a good judge of distance, but I'd say the lift gets at most up to twenty feet. This was hard snow he landed on. I don't know if he was wearing a helmet.

 
This isn't as bad as what you were saying but once I was getting on the chair and I thought, Hmm I wonder what would happen if I stuck the tips of my skis into the hole in the snow right after the loading spot. Well I did, and it pulls the chair back really hard and the guy sitting next to me jumped off onto grass below (it was last spring) and the second he go off it went back and I got to ride up. It had to be one of the funniest things ever. For the rest of the day the guy kept on giving me the evil eye every time I saw him.

i jumped off but i kinda fell too anyway i was at stratton on the old slow ass chair lift that they replaced with the shooting stars this year and i went to get off and my cousin who has never really skied before cuts me off and like pushes off of me to get off too. anyways i didn't feel like freezing my ass of again and taking a fifteen minute chairlift ride again so i jumped from like 5-10 feet and landed flat on my back..... it hurt like a bitch.

i threw my friends poles off the lift before.

i was thing about jumping off the lift one time cause it had been stopped for like 10 mintues.

but never fell off of it.

yea sometimes im thinkin about jumping off, and then i thought about it, and like when u are looking down u are usually looking slightly forward too and the hill is downhill so you are looking at less than a drop than if u jumped off and went straight down, so its kinda deceiving

Last weekend the lift got stuck, we waited 20 minutes, and made the 15 foot jump into about 3 inches of powder. It didnt hurt to bad, stung the feet a little bit, thats about it.

Hmm, a couple times at PowderHorn I was tempted to just of right where 'Vertical Drop' started, but I really didn't want to lose my lift ticket over it. If you've ever been to that chair in Poweder Horn, MI, you probably know what I am talking about.

 
I had a friend slip off the chair like a foot in the air and somehow he managed to grab on and hang until he was like 8 or 9 feet in the air....THEN he decided to jump.

I've had kids (I'm an instructor) fall in the catch net several times which gets to be pretty entertaining.

i have jumped a few times if the lift stops or something, but not just for the hell of it.

'Oh my god, are you rubbing your balls?'-really hot chick who was all over one of my friends, then he had his hand in his pants, rubbin the sack cuz it was uncomfortable (he was very stoned)
 
it is my life goal to stick a landing off a chair on purpose but I dont know if i ever will try it. Theres a very low lift at blue mountain that passes over this closed trail full of powder and i have been very tempted to drop.

I jumped off the top part of the lift over at Oz last weekend. Landed in the best powder all year. The next ride up everyone else decided to do the same thing...fuckers.

 
yeah, we have a spot that is usually powder where i have jumped off...it's ok, only like 5 or 6 feet up.

Last year I think it was one of the chairs fell off the lift at A basin. On the snowflake lift at breck theres a part where the lift turns and I jumped there. It wasn't bad at all, maybe 8 feet.

 
i dont know if anyone else noticed it but its like a trend to leave ur bar up when uploading to blackcomb in the summer. i wonder if anyone has ever falled off

doesnt everyone leave their bar up unless ur friggin 80 feet in the air (like sunday river's double interconnect thing..scares me shitless)

ive jumped off lifts before, its not bad at all. people think its worse that it really is. when i was 10 or something i was hanging off the lift and my dad was holding me..bout 30 feet up..scary stuff. Also i was riding up the lift at montage with this kid and he was saying how he fell of and broke his ankle when the chair when over a tower and it started to rumble and he fell of...i just laughed at him.

ive also pushed my friend off the lift from bout 4 feet up..we were mad at each other and i pushed alittle to hard..heh

It is unfortunate when everything seems to be going really good and the girl uses a word like 'dont', or 'stop'. If she learned to use these two words in unison, everyone would be much happier.
 
In the summer I never really bother, unless its rainy and I pull the dome over. I only do it in the winter when its really high or I get tired and rest my skis.

last weekend my friend and me were goin up the lift and he got his ski caught in the ground which we thought was snow. when he finally let go of the lift and dropped 15ft there was about a pound of mud on his ski.

now for some reason people don't want to take a lesson with him.

lol people talk about falling off a lift as if its common. i have never seen any1 do it by accident. I once saw som1 jump onto a cliff edge and then do the cliff (about 35 or more feet) because the resort had fenced it off (with big metal permanent fence, not orange string). it was insanesly cool.

At Steamboat the double chair bar-ue is the perfect chair to jump off its ike a 9 foot drop into a shit load of powder, me and my buddy have been there before and i brought an other friend and right before the top of the hill where the guy in the booth at the top still cant see you we jumped off with out telling the kid who wasthere for the 1st time..confused him greatly. Also there are no bars on the slo chairs out there and on morning side the chair lift goes up 100 feet in high winds and no bar. its scary shit.

jumping off chair lifts is one hell of a rush. it suxs when u get caught though. oh ya try to land in powder if u do jump!

 
me and my friends are always jumpin off lifts. at mountiain creek, there isnt alot of lifts, but in shawnee mt there is alot. watch out for the rocks. ski lift jumpin is cool right before you get off, to get a head start on your friends.

 
you know when you are going up blackcomb on glacier express and about a third of the way up it drops off. well built a jump on that slope. I filmed my buddy riding the chair from the chair in front then he jumped off and hit the jump. we did it twice and on the third time the ski patrol was waiting for us so we aborted the mission. got some neet footage though.

Last night me and my buddy jumped off the lift cause there was some sick pow below us and everyone on the lift was all like yo I've only seen that on TV before!

 
i was on the lift like 4 or 5 years agoand it broke down, we sat there for about 3 hours -my mom and me- then we got lowered down by the patroller, i almost jumped in tremblant on the main chair when it stopped.... and y friend did it to impress hids gf and got his pass pulled...hahaha that was hillarious

yo, i jumped off the lift hella times, but cant remember fallin off since i started skiing like 9 years ago. we used to bring a camera up to make each other jump, and then do stupid shit donw the lift line, since in conecticut the lift line isnt a trail. happy jumping bros. hope the east starts gettin snow soon...ya need it
