Yo, work core, and back so your spine doesn't shatter when you overshoot that big table at your local hill. Also, get on a road bike and spin untill your legs go numb. If you do that, you will be a killer on the dance floor when it comes to skiing. But as someone who has been skiing for the past month, skiing will get you in shape pretty quickly as well. I still work out during the week though. It prevents injury, especially if your legs are strong, there's less of a chance of blowing your knees up.
