From the KB site. “KB to sponsor and provide rails for a Schussmeister demo/comp. at UB this October. Details coming next week!”…

Discovered some bad news by lurking on HV forums…

“Due to UB and Pepsi Center legal issues and corporate sponsor conflict a rail jam will not happen at UB this year. One will happen at the KB Ski Swap November 10th and another is in the works at an as yet undisclosed location, not at a ski area or UB. Sponsors, area management etc. are on board all ready for these two events. I will update as I can.”

Aside from the KB jam, there are either 2 or 4 rail events that will take place at peeknpeak. I went to one of the four last year and became the proud recipient of a season pass. I think there is a pic of the venue in my NS profile…anyway on the www.pknpk.com events calendar it mentions 2 rails jams on oct 13th & the 20th

 
Since you are attending UB, have you heard any more info about the rail jam or its cancellation?

 
Moses, it's not a bad thing aside from the fact it won't be at UB.

We still have the one November 10th, at KB, and then it sounds like they really still want to have another.

They have sponsors and everything. To me it's awesome that KB is jumping on and doing these sorts of things.

And honestly, I can see where the problem arose. Imagine how UB's legal department felt about the insurance aspect of it.
 
"Real (snow) gathered from Zamboni holds. I was at Metor Judging last year and between the mud straw and snow things slid nicely. It looked sketchy at first but when I watched the competitors session the features it looked wicked fun. The Sat. Nov. 10th event will be a KB/PHATMAN/245snowboard/ski event. The other venue is still in the works."

I've talked with a few people in schuss, but no one mentioned it. The kids were just snowboards who volunteer for the cub though, so they might not know. I'll go down and talk to the people in the office next time im down there and try to figure more out.
 
MY friend who use to be the presdent for schuss told me due to insurance issues...the school didnt want to put it on...This is even after red bull said that they would take care of the big money insurance policy.....the school bitching out is what seems to be the issue.
 
Anybody know about a setup near the school. its right off of maple near flint. I saw it before but didnt remember where it was, then saw it again this morning. theres a down rail and another flat bar on the ground that looks legit.
 
i have not been to the UB North Campus in some time, are there any slideable rails in that area?
 
yea there are alot in the area that look decent. infront of the alumni arena there is one thats like a 75' mellow d-f-d thats near a bull statue. I think you would get busted pretty quickly though cause there are cops all over, and shuttle buses might call you in too, so you would need to be quick about it. if you do come and scout some out, check near governors too, its a residence hall, there is a long ass down rail infront of it.
 
Yeah, there are some pics of them in my profile. I went in mid feb last winter to slide some of them. The triple kink was too scary for me and a catering van was parked right in front of the quad kink. I still jumped off the patio and slid the small lake rail…the footy is in my braddypoo video. There are also vids of the Phillips bros and some other kb killers on the profile video page.
 
yea, i wouldn't trust any rails at UB's north campus...

and as i bought my schuss pass this year, i asked about it, and the people there were like, what are you talking about, then i hopped back there, pulled up the site, and the Schuss reference was gone... but they said no about the rail jam. i told them to rethink it, but i think they made up theyre mind. however, over the course of the year, im going to try and get in good with schuss, maybe help run things next year if im lucky... who knows.

 
If you're up for a challenge and can make a jump get the shot, and book it real quick. The rail in the back of the CFA I think it is, facing the lake, would make a ridiculously sick shot. I'll have to snap a pic of it with my cell the next time I walk by.
 
haha i wish i was that good. I think your talking about the d-f-d on the stairs to the entrance, most of the rails look like they would be hard to set up and not busted because they are on like entrances though. There is one on stairs that go up to like O'brian hall, between the SU and Knox that look like they have been done. there are 2 rails , and the second one has the paint off the top, so that's my guess.
 
2 weeks 'til KB's rail jam at the open house.

Does anyone know anything more about it? They keep just saying details coming soon on the website.
 
I'm betting that shit-show got shut down after all the rampant abuse and shittalking that happened in the past.

It still exists over at kbnews.blogspot.com, but it's not updated at all.

Their "daily updates" section is more like "weekly, if lucky updates"

Gotta love good ol' Ghetto KB.
