Fake Liberals, Hippies, Earthies, Tree-huggers, etc...

Actually I read a comparison taking all the costs of manufacturing and replacement into account. It said that although the hybrid (I don't recall which model) was better on fuel, the hummer (again, I don't recall which model) would last longer, and was less harmful to produce. Apparently some of these hybrid engines take a lot of energy to produce and ship. Usually higher cost=more waste. If something costs a lot it is because of the work that goes into prodution and work uses resources.

It's a pretty weak argument though, it's saying that because hybrid technology is in it's baby stages, it isn't very efficent to produce... it's not like over time we'll figure more efficent ways to produce hybrid, alternative fuel tecnology, it's just because while something is new it requires a lot of infrastructure to be built up, a lot of R&D to be built up and incorporating these costs into the actual product sway it's overall efficency against a poorly efficent combustion engine.

What you can say though is that as time goes on alternative fules are going to get more and more efficent where as the conventional combustion engine is pretty much at its peak.

yea they really piss me off i mean half the shit on that movie is warped information and doesnt show the other side of the argument

I agree with that. I think we are moving in a positive direction. I should have put that in my previous post. Progression is costly, but if we or china or whoever figure it out then other countries can benefit without having to go through their own R&D. I feel like America gets a bad rap sometimes because we are more advanced and we go through the trial and error first. All the while everyone else benefits from our mistakes.

[PWN]hey smartass, if you read the fucking post up top you would realize i didnt say that, so maybe look at my post before assuming

if you read my post, you would see that i hate when people do not educate themselves then call out other people

you, my friend, did not educate yourself on what i was trying to say, because you did not read my first post

you did the same thing, speaking while not educated, that i am saying i hate [/PWN]

people make a big deal about how they don't want to or can't change their lives to save energy, but generally swiching over to a "green" lifestyle is easier and will save them money.... think about it, if you turn out the lights every time u aren't in a room that will all add up over the course of a year and you will save more money than u realize. People complain that switching over to CFC's is so expensive when really after a few years the energy they save will pay for themselves. Even if u only save like $100 dollars a year think about it, if i offered you $100 dollars right now would you really say no?

To say that global warming is bull is flat out ignorant. At least back up your claim, yes it is how the earth works to some extent. There are natural cycles in the earth's temperature range, and we are near the peak of one. Now, there is a direct correlation between the amount of carbon in the air and the average surface temperature of the earth. Here is a graph, which is taken from the vostok ice cores that are located in the coldest, most interior point of Antarctica where the ice is more than a mile thick. Here is the correlation chart

if you deny a correlation there, i dont really know what to say. Obviously, there are other factors, but humans are contributing directly to overall CO2 increase in the atmosphere (amoung other warming gases). The "volcanos produce more CO2 than humans have in all of existence" argument is flat out wrong, you can refer to any USGS survey.

I really wish people would just take the time to look into these issues.

Every post of your's has led me to believe your a Colorado Springs type of Coloradoan.

I don't preach about global warming, but i mean, c'mon, to say that releasing all these toxic gasses into the environment is a good thing.......

I read every word. I was just asking? Alot of people that state things like what you said have an innate fear of any people trying to change the status quo. So I was wanting to know your official stance, so I could judge you.

I wish you would take the time to look closely at that graph. Notice how the carbon dioxide goes up AFTER the temperature rises and peaks about 1000 years AFTER the average temperature does. Yes, the current CO2 level is high, but that graph does nothing but suggest that higher temperatures CAUSE higher CO2 levels, not the other way around.

Know what you mean, I try to be environmentally friendly myself but I try not to just jump on the bandwagon so I'll back up why Im doing it

we've found a solution to it. pavement/roads that absorb all the greenhouse gasses that are causing global warming. my teacher was telling us about it the other day. but i really never cared about any of it

I hesitate to take stuff like this too seriously.

I worked at a law firm over the summer. The firm was located in an office complex, and all cleaning for all the companies in the complex was done by the building's staff. They had recycling bins for the copious amounts of paper we threw out at the law firm, but it turns out the cleaning crew just treated recycling bins as trash, and they only put the bins out to make people feel better about themselves. I thought this was hilarious.

quite the bump eh? Guess it was relevant timing

but what are you thankful for, does her idiocy justify your own? (no hate aspen, we love you very much)

You lover her too, common, in some special, akward, crazy 3rd uncle sort of way...thats right, yes you do, and it's ok!

Deep down NS is about the peace and love :)

hahaha. im not gonna lie, the thought of her running around with guns is funny, in an extraordinarily discomforting funny sort of way.

Global warming is real. Yes, the earth has been getting warmer the last few decades but does that mean it is due to man made activity? I don't know. I have been back and forth on this issue. I'm not sure who to believe. There are a lot of global warming nuts out there who seem to be spinning facts. I see a lot of propaganda on the global warming issue by people who clearly are using it to push an agenda. To the kid that said Republicans are the ones making GW political, are you nuts? GW is the liberals greatest tool other then this recession to push their agenda...

this thread is funny

all you need to know is the world used to be colder than it is now and it used to be warmer than it is now likewise one day the earth will be much warmer than it is know and one day it will be much colder than it is now. To honestly think that we as a species have the ability to adversely effect (to a lasting degree) a natural planetary cycle that has been going on for Millions of years only speaks to the natural insecurities we as a race feel toward the unknown and need to feel like we have some control over are destinies when in reality we don't. (think Greeks making sacrifices to gods because they angered them and brought famine)
