Damn dude skiers are so interesting and unique glad we finally get to hear their voice
 
Watched the beginning and got bored of the tgr type shit. I'm sure I'll finish it later tho. Definably a few gas clips mixed in
 
I struggled through this one....

4min and 18seconds of the ladies segment was the only thing that kept my full attention.
 
It was decent but nothing crazy. Only time I made a noise was at bella bacons nollie 4 on, steeziest woman in skiing.
 
That’s how I felt about the Salomon movie. It’s the same shit

same movie every year, cardboard cineflex, but at least the skiing is impressive every time

Oof….my thoughts exactly. I wrote a review on brobomb for one of the older Pep/Pollard/Maher/Bentchetler flicks (contrast maybe?…not IDEA, which is life) that could apply this faction movie.

the overdubbed “what does it all mean” shit always comes off as corny and forced.

Some good skiing in Roots, but honestly I was pretty let down by Etienne’s direction. Felt way more generic and uhh……warren millerish/late stage TGR than I ever would’ve thought.

The early Faction edits/flicks were so fucking sharply conceived/shot/edited/scored that, combined with the crazy talent, added up to be some of the best shit of that time. This just wasn’t. For me, anyway.

Most Gutter, the Ski Carnage movie, the Jossi and Torin flick and on and on raised the bar so high that this just felt outdated and stiff to me. Is it the Redbull money??

Let me say though that the skiing and the athletes showed OUT. Anti, AHall, Matej, BIG DUNK, Sarah and Bella and the gang…..killed it. The Dolomite segment didn’t do much for me, but I’ll rewatch Dunk/Wyoming over and over.

I've definitely given up on faction releasing good content, the edits were so dope but all of their movies have been super boring
 
I was talking to some of the people who were in it at the Slc premiere and it sounded like some of them sent in some really sick footage that wasn't included in the movie. I loved This is home, particularly the Zermatt segment, that was real big mountain skiing

Just gave it a watch. It was about what I expected :/

there were a lot of shots where you could tell the trick or the line was absolutely fucked, but because they used some wack ass drone shot instead of just using a tripod you couldn’t tell what was going on.

also was stoked to see Bella Bacon destroy in the ladies seg but she only had one clip

that said, there were definitely some highlights. I think Antti’s BONED out 3 Japan in the resort seg was the shot of the movie.

maybe a Bella/Antti urban seg could have saved it.

Yeah FR what’s up with no urban segments this year? The last few faction movies have had killer urban segs

That zermatt segment is my all time favorite. I expected more from Sam A in roots but i guess he was just taking it easy after skiing the fucking karakorams for La Liste 2

The ladies section was the only great part the rest was decent but not outstanding. Bella bacon is the steeziest skier to live

the nose butter 5 was wild, too bad she slightly overrotated.
 
This rolled up on my youtube feed and all I caught was the title. When I see "foundations of freeskiing" I was actually half expecting to see ski-doc with twenty+ year old footage. :-D ;-)

these movies are just built for uncultured skiers who haven’t spent 8 years getting tired of watching big tricks

i used to fw triple corks, now i think they’re boring asf
 
Super tired of voice overs. It's just ski-themed white noise and doesn't give any insight into the sport or the skier. Also I didn't see how the film explored the roots of freeskiing beyond just saying there is passion and adventure, etc... Definitely produced for the general market. Also, best lady-skier segment by far.
 
The trailer was so dope and I have always been a huge fan of their edits/movies, but damn, this one wasn't anything great. Maybe I'll give it another go.

^^ This. and why is Candide not in a Faction movie? It's more than a little weird to not have your highest profile and highest paid skier not be in your promotional vehicle.
 
Bruh just suffered through all 45 minutes of this. Definitely one of the worst ski movies I’ve seen. Terrible music selection bad editing. During the drone shots I was more focused on the drone than the actual skiing. The ruka segment was one of the best but how do you make the most stylish skiers in the game seem boring. The ladies section was sick too but same criticism there. Shoutout to Bella tho for that nasty nollie 4
