Faction CT 3 durability (Heel pieces popping)

I thought maybe my first pair was a fluke, but I just popped the top sheet and the heel piece on my second brand new pair of Faction CT 3s. See pic and specs below. Twice now I have looked down to see a bunch of snow packed under my heel piece and the top sheet ripped up. The skis are super rad to ride and have a great shape but the durability is a wicked bummer. Luckily the warranty process has been painless and quick, and this time they are shipping me a pair of Prodigies 3s to try.

Is anyone else having this problem?!? I ski hard, but not as hard as CT (obv). Is he getting a new pair a week or something? I heard a rep say he skis the exact same ski (no carbon or metal stringers added to his skis or anything). I think if they get rid of the balsam wood and replaced it with something harder it would solve the issue.

Thoughts?

Specs:

Faction CT 3.0 186

Pivot 14s

Mounted 1mm up from all mountain

Heel piece popping? Looks solid to me. The ski totally came apart. Something went wrong in the lay up. Bad epoxy.

Sometimes things go wrong. Get the new pair and move on. Maybe try to be smoother when you get on a rail ;-)

Ha these guys never saw a rail, when you say "in the lay up" do you mean though that the epoxy was bad in the ski construction or in the mount job?

The mount was definitely solid, it took chunks of the core with it. Factions are notorious for breaking like that.

It could be because the pivot has a really tight heel mount pattern. There is a much smaller area of the skis core that is held onto by pivots compared to jesters/sth2s/attacks, so maybe for your new pair you should look into using another binding.

Fairly certain faction is partnered with look. You would think they would design the ski so it would work with them.

Yeah you're right, that was just an idea of why it would happen, there are probably some bigger issues in the skis construction

Yup my pair did the exact same thing basically faction tried to dance around the question until I got out of them that its just shitty manufacturing, and they are switching down the line. Wasnt too satisfied with that answer as its really a catostrophic failure when it happens. Their NE rep is on NS he usually chimes in on these threads.

shoulda bout vishnus my first pair has been through hell and back and the core is pulling less than that lol
