Done with the research and for some NS advice.

Long story short, looking at grabbing a pair of Faction 3.0s this season. Park skis have been primarily a 172/174. Since this will be more of a backcountry/pow ski, I was thinking of upping the size, just concerned on the 182 size being a bit big.

5'5/5’6 ish

140lbs

Type 3+ skier

Would like to hear some info from others on Factions.

People on newschoolers too often recommend long, long skis. I like a longer ski, and if I were you I still wouldn't go 182. At 140lbs and 5'5" I think 176 will be plenty of ski.

Imo 176 might be a safer bet. Im lighter but 5'11 and have started to feel out sizes and a 182 park ski is a bit long, I like my 179s and 176s. Imo a 176 wouldn't be bad. I'd walk into store and line then up next you and feel it out more but at 5'5 it would be a tad tough to ride 182s more likely than not, especially on a wider and bigger platform

im a fan of longer skis. I always used to ride 177s then made the switch to 183 don't think ill ever go back. sure its a bit more to throw around but IMO the extra stability far out weighs the whole half pound extra that you have to throw around.

you can always ski up to a longer ski. im 5'6 135 and skied the 182cm 4.0 all last season. Wont be going below 180cm for a charging ski ever again I dont think.
