No, it's fucking stupid that people from the NS community feel the need to get pissy about something like this. Who fucking cares if a kid is messing up the lingo or having some slight issues here and there. At least he is a skier and is a part of the section of the sport that is constantly changing and getting better.
 
Although you may find the kid annoying or whatever, he isnt actually doing anything to you so why show the hate? Him having all this new gear that his "rich parents" bought him even though "he should be on rentals" doesnt effect you at all so why shoot down his hype on starting to ski, let the kid be and learn how things are out there
 
They don't. They fall under Trendwhore apparel. For you at least. Imo, gaper is an overused term. It pisses me off to see what skiing has come to. Yes, some learners may be annoying, but 80% aren't. They are simply learning. You were there. We all were. I like seeing young kids learning even if they suck. It means one more person has decided to slap on a pair of skis and go do the best sport out there. Skiing used to be about having fun. What happened to that? Now its about who can look the coolest or have the best shit. "Gapers" don't annoy me. Bullshit like this does.

I can't fit. I am panda shaped hence the name. Plus even if I could fit I wouldn't be able to afford them.

And honestly, I don't give a flying fuck if you think I'm a trendwhore. I buy outerwear that I like the looks of. Like I said before, if that makes me a trendwhore than I'm the biggest one around.

Although you probably hate me, I understand what you're saying. I like 6.0's because of the way you can customize them and because of the way they fit my foot. Some people may call them trendwhore shoes. I could care less. I like them. Same goes for Jiberish. I enjoy the fit of the pants and the softness. Some people may call me a trendwhore for wearing tight(ish) jiberish jeans and a hoodie. Oh well. They are comfy and I like them.

I apologize for saying calling you a trendwhore because at the time i was a bit testy, and not only that, I also see what you mean now.
 
Haha I don't hate you man.And I understand what you're coming from as well. I get a bit tired of seeing tons of 16 and under kids wearing they're 6xl LRG hoodies just like Henrik riding their Afterbangs with their Fulltilts. But typically, I don't hate on them. Because I don't know what motives they had when buying their gear.
PS-I love my Jiberish jeans as well. Wearing a pair right now actually. The trousers or whatever they're called are comfortable as all hell. Crazy soft. Everyone should pick up a pair. haha

No, I am not a gaper, but I am also not a steezy super baggy guy like most of NS. If you saw me without my skis, you would think I am a normal dude that just skis for fun on the weekends. Normal fitting pants, jacket, a helmet. I just don't understand the big deal to make fun of people constantly about being "gapers".

"freestyle track" "grinder bar" "ramp jump" "half pike" are always funny to here. You've laughed at much worse shit before I'm sure panda.

For the most part all the kids in the park are cool to people, even gapers if there respectful and trying to learn stuff. Nothing wrong with laughing at something like this.
 
Yea sure you can laugh about it thats totally fine. But making a thread on NS about it is a bit too far. The people who make a thread on NS about this stuff and HAVE to but new jjiberish every year need to realize that your image is not everything. If you're having fun who cares if you dont know the proper lingo, dont have the newest gear or cant land any cool "moves".

Its skiing not the red carpet, fashion isn't everything.

on friday some kids in my class were talking about doing 360s (none of them could go over that) and they said its easy to do a cork 3s and that they do them all the time. i was listening from another table and laughing.
 
Gapers generally hate park kids. Gapers where sweet outfits, so the funniest shit on skis with there families.

Then they come through the park and jump the rail takes offs, snake people, roll the jumps, stand on the landing with there families, get in the way.

I take issue when someone goes and creates a thread like this because let us say that this person sees this thread and how people are making fun of him. Stuff like this can cause people to leave the sport.

Skiing used to be about going out and just having fun. Now it is about who can be the steeziest, who has the most Jiberish and SaGa stuff, and about how well you know the lingo to it.

Because your the official gatekeeper to the skiing world. againa, nothing he said had anything to do with buying a ton of mas expensive outwear. If your a noob to anything you have to expect to get teased a little bit.

Any sport, if you can't handle that, you're going to have some problems dealing with shit all through life.

Skiing/snowboarding still are about fun, yeah there are kids trying to force steez and afterbang, but most kids are just having a good time.

It's not like the sport of skiing will end if you laugh at a new gaper moment.

The reason I take issue is cause I will get on the chairlift as a race coach (I love working with the younger race kids, like th 8-10 year olds cause all they care about is having fun) and it used to be I would get on and their would be a snowboarder or two on the thread and their first comment is in hushed tones:

"Ski racing is for fags..."

Now I get on and see someone in their Saga stuff and other such things and expect them to be polite and not assholes and the same thing comes out of their mouth:

"Racin is for fags..."

What type of image does it give to the freestyle section of the sport?
 
your right about park skiers are becoming assholes. yesterday i fell doing a rail and someone called me a fag. and today it was -20c weather so i didnt ski and went tobogganing with my friend and got called a fag by some park skiers going by.
 
This is stupid, you talk down to a kid that enjoy's skiing when you clearly are no good yourself, I could fucking kick your ass up and down the mountain and at least that kid is out trying to get better and falling so fucking let your balls drop and chill.

In the park at least where I ride, everyone is just having fun. Plenty of gaper jokes, but nobody is a dick to people even when there learning.

So all this crazy shit is just stupid.
