Facebook and "Pro" Skiiers

Sites like facebook, myspace, and twitter are making "pro" skiiers less "pro" and more "friends".

B4 the social networking explosion of 2007 pro's were people we saw in movies and in competitions "throwing down hard", now we can watch T-Wall's every move on facebook and even see what party he raged at the night b4.

Gone are the days of signed posters and legendary lifestyles, the "ten's" will be a decade of generalized-pro-am-relations

brb...going to facebook chat with tanner about getting my skis warrantied

i think its a good thing, i kind of like how skiing is a tit-knit community were pros don't think they are too cool or good to talk to your average skier

Freeskiing has only been around for like what 10 years? How can we possibly have legends if the people who started it all are still competing and filming all the time.
And don't worry there will always be pros who won't give you the time of day. (I know he's not a skier but look at Shaun White)
It's way better for everyone to be on the same page and not have those people who you may get to meet once at a poster signing and that's it.

i actualy met shaun white at mount hood this year riding the pipe, and he DID give me the time of day... he's really sick and chill despite what some people say. he talked to us for a bit and asked if we wanted to ride with him and his crew and shit.......

ya cool story hansel but shaun white is not an ass at all

I know people that add every pro skier as friends but i just dont do that. Hell ive meet pro skiers that i dont have on my face book. I just think its kinda stupid to add people to your facebook that you dont actually know.

well "B4" I read this thread, I was like, lol, wut? then I was like chea chea chea

anyway, without facebook, how could the ski community follow and support the tom wallisch-mary o'neill romance? I mean, where would we be as a sport without her?

haha, dude the skiing community has always been tight nit. facebook didn't create that. Maybe now it's easyer to creepy stalk people but game hasn't changed. 99.9% of the world wouldn't reconize t wall or probably even t hall. You still see pro's on any given day at keystone or break

but the only way to know if someone is on ns or not is if their mutual friend is tom wallisch

Not really seeing where you're going with This. Why would you not like knowing how a pro is living, and getting updates and edits and stuff

the skiing community isn't as tight-knit as you might think. Try riding the tram on a powder day at the Bird. Wait make that almost anyday.

I'm sure Tanner is thrilled your trying to get your skis warrantied directly through him. You know there is someone you can contact for that sort of thing.

PSA: selling my spot on tom wallisch's friends list on facebook!!

Starting bid: $10.
