Sorry, no video of when the damage occured, but nonetheless...would you not say this engine is good for scrap metal?

Not to mention I need winter tires and my yellow top optima is waiting to be picked up...cars are too expensive.

Anybody else getting shit from their ride?

dont worry about it my car sounds like that all the time. i just blast my shitty speakers so i dont hear it

yea I need a whole new control arm kit for the front of my a4... lookin at like a grand. You sure your transmission isn't slipping? clutch maybe? what are you driving

Just a 2003 Civic LX.

^^we're guessing it's a bearing somewhere, but who knows...it's not even worth checking out, too many engines in scrapyards. I got one with 19 000 miles for $600, with a 2 year garantee.

^Ouf, glad I don't have an audi...to get a tranny+engine swaped into my car, it'll be $1300...try doing that in an audi, it'll be 3k minimummm, lol.

I wish I could take advantage of the opportunity and put in a K series, or a GSR or anything, but nothing is really available for this car yet :(...

your dumb

thats deff not the trany or clutch...

if your engine was blown you wouldnt be able to drive it but your car hates life right now it sounds like

get that checked...what car was it?

Agreed, but something is bound to cease up and blow the shit up on my way to the engine place, haha.

the sound on the internet isnt working for me right now for some reason. but whats the car doing? is the car modded at all? from what i can see in the video it just looks like your throttle is acting on its own. does the car idle aright? you could have a problem with the tps.

idk who knows

might be your throt bearings cuz my bros audi made some weird noises but not as bad as that but who knows good luck

dude sucks last year i did 50mph through a 3 foot deep puddle that was like 200 feet long. so basically a lake in a parking lot and hydrolocked the enginge cause it sucked water through the intake and bent all my spark plugs and fucked a piston up. oh yeah that casue it to stall in the middle and my car filled with water it was pretty tight

Dang that sucks. Last winter I slid out of control 40 mph into a telephone pole. The engine was in the passenger compartment and my back is totally out of whack now. yay airbags and seat-belts though, saved my life.

OP: How did it happen? Did you just gun it and it died or what?

ok so i got my sound back and um. you have some insane piston slap or rod knock. stop driving the car asap because you might be able to salvage the head and just replace the block.

first thing, compression test it. then take the head off and see what fucked up. it sounds like piston slap to me. thats what happened to my integra when i ran too much boost through it. i lost cylinder 1 and 2 and had fucked up my block pretty bad so i just sold it as is because i was done throwing money into it.

Shit, I wonder if this is what happened to my engine...

It was pouring rain when it all happened. Although, when the clicking noise started, I pulled over and checked my intake---which was bone dry.

I think my best option is to just replace the whole thing...in reality, what's the point of investing time, when it would be easier and much more practical to throw a whole new engine in.

There's a surplus of these engines right now, because there are so many civics being crashed each day...but who the hell needs an engine for a 5 year old car? It's rare...so supply & demand gets me a mint engine and tranny for 600.

How did you like the low boost setup? (sounds like that's what you had).

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a bike...something like a gsr-600, or if I want to invest in my car. I think I'll get the rocket, because cars are just a money sink.

I actually have an 03 civic and I originally had all these plans for it. Then I realized how much money it was.

This past summer I bought an 04 Yamaha R6 and I couldn't care less about my car now. A stock rocket is so much faster than a civic will ever be. You have to be careful though. Take the MSF course and wear your gear.

I'll explain it to you in french because i know your from quebec...

you my friend are WRRROOONNGG. i have been in an integra that shit on a gsx-r 1000. the only thing is my friend had like 50 grand into his integra haha probably more than you are going to spend on your car. my car shits on all kinds of bikes even turboed bikes.

b engines are a lot less cheaper and more common for swaps

but yeah k series own the shit out of them and i can have them for 5000$CAN so totally not 8k lol

Im assuming thats just for the engine. Your gonna need mounts, a new ecu, installation (asumming you cant do it yourslef), and a plethora of other parts to get it to fit and work. Its not nearly as simple as a B swap.

And ya B series are the shit. Cheap, reliable, and bomb proof. I have a gsr and i love it to death. Ive got i/h/c/e so far, and ive planned on building up the head and bottom end, but i might just sell that stuff and go turbo. I got a ride with my friend who just put a greddy kit on his, and its a blast man. And that only put down like 250 to the wheels.... id love to build a 300-350 whp setup, so much cheaper than the na route

It is obviously rod knock. This means that you have a bent rod or a blown piston. It is most likely the rod.

You should not be driving the car with rod knock

The motor is blown, but you can always bore out the cylinder walls and go with forged internals. It will basically be a new, rebuilt block. Forged rods and pistons will take a beating.

If you were to go the route of forged internals, you should upgrade the camshafts in the cylinder head as well.. and you could do a counter-weighted crankshaft pulley if you're a baller.

After the forged internals are done, the motor will be able to handle high levels of boost very reliably.

You can boost on stock internals, but you'll run into problems much more frequently and you won't be able to experience the car's full potential.

I'd strongly suggest forged internals before doing a high-power turbo setup.

Personally, I despise Hondas... I know they're reliable cars but the engines have really low displacement and no torque at all. But, if you want to invest money in a 1.6L ricebox, then go for it.

Turbo Hondas CAN be fast, but 99% of the time they cant really compete with what else is out there

I'd suggest spending the money on a different platform.

I'm into Nissans myself.

I'm currently running naturally aspirated on stock internals with a 4-2-1 header and full 2.5" Magnaflow exhaust, lightweight crankshaft pulley, throttle body spacer, etc.

The car is a '99 Altima SE-Limited. It has the same engine as the Nissan 240sx. (KA24DE)

Forged internals and a custom Garrett GT35R turbo setup are planned for this summer.

I should be around 450-550whp on a 2.4L DOHC FWD sedan.. I cant wait. It will be the ultimate sleeper.

Sorry for the long post, but turbo imports are my thing.

Good luck with the swap...

Finally someone on this thread actually knows what they're talking about..

Good call on the compression test, I meant to mention that in my post prior to this one.

Theres no such thing as a gsr shitting on a 1000. Even with over 500whp, traction bars, and drag radials, you will not "shit" on a 1000. But i highly doubt your frinds car is that dedicated for the 1/4 mile. And if he spent 50 g's on it, it better be running 8's, and he better be winning nhra fwd events every weekend to pay that off.

wow that blows, but is it modded? cause i see the apiller gauges adn shit, are they just like pressure or something?

Getting an engine rebuilt is pretty fucking expensive. And not even worth it on a Honda engine. Replacing the piston and rod is one thing, but getting your block bored out is another thing altogether. Thats new pistons, cam, crank, rods and the whole kitten kaboodle. It would be way cheaper to either just replace the fucked piston or just get another engine.

K20a2(USDM Type-S) Motor/Tranny/ECU___$3500-$4500

Needed Swap Parts (Hybrid-Racing Package Deal) ___$2800

Hondata ECU ___$950 or JDM Type R ECU ___$300-$400

Labor Should be $650-$1000 depending on what parts used

^pasted from honda-tech. Even if you get a deal, there's no way your paying under $8k for the whole swap. You have to factor in new axles, header, intake, ecu (you cany wire the stock ecu into a different car) and all the custom wiring/fuel parts that need to be used. From what i've seen, most people are paying $9-10k for the complete swap. Of course you save a some if you can do it yourself.. but you gotta pay to play

you sir are wrong, completely. my best friend has a fully build integra. b18c1 fully built block and head, gt35R... im not gonna list everything because i could write a page on this car. but it dynoed at 518 on a mustang dyno at slowmotion in colombus. well it shit on my 07 R6, and it shit on my buddies 08 gsxr 1000, kept up with a turbo busa... in 4th gear, he still cant get traction, but it still moves faster than the bike. bikes arent as fast as some ppl think they are. im already bored with my R6, so im turning it into a circuit bike.

and to the OP. lol my integra was far from mild boost. i had a 60 trim on it running 18lbs of boost on a pretty much stock motor, i blew that one up, then i did internals on the next, and blew that one up too then i decided to sell it.

oh and for anybody that disagrees with kushblunts, i have seen his evo, and i know whats done to it. and can personally guarantee an ass raping to even a carrera GT.

to the OP again, if you have the money, K swap it and do a mild boost setup. maybe throw a 18G on there at low boost and it will roll out on alot of shit and it leaves you with room to upgrade and run more boost if you want later on down the road. but if you dont have the money, replace the block, its not that complicated, its a honda. you can take the whole car appart with a 10, 12, 13, and 17 mm socket lol

when im done throwing money into my jeep, im gonna get a 00-03 s2k and make it NA... mmm f20 with ITBs and straight pipes, sex to my ears.

you dont know what you are talking about.

and to whoever asked about how much money I have in my car, I would rather not talk about that but I can tell you for what I have put into my car i could have had 3 evo's by now.

Exactly. I spent 5g's on my bike, and it will beat almost everything. Unless you've spent a shitload of money on a car. I hope you realize how much of a waste of money it is someday.

for sure, its never a waste until the day comes when you have to sell it, and loose your ass hahah. but tons of good memories and to me it was well worth it.

You're an idiot for driving it after you fucked it up, easily could of turned 300 dollars worth of damage into several thousand
