F-450 Eater!

I had a job at Toyota, I can tell you that over the next few years Toyota is building trucks to take over the "heavyduty" market.

it redlines at like 2.5.

is this true for most diesels? (not a truck dude.)

because the majority of americans still dont care

this will be the first toyota diesel in a while, correct?

rad, that's the only thing that toyota doesn't have right now. make that available to the general public and bam!

Yea, I don't think this is gonna be a big money maker for them. I think its more a slap in the face to Ford/GM as big trucks were basically the last niche they had any real hold on.

Biofuels aren't looking very good right now...except for corn farmers. It still takes more energy to make ethanol than you get back from burning it. Not good for a fuel's longterm future to have a negative ROI.

hmm, i still think i'd rather have a diesel for towing sleds and other toys. plus ive always been a toyota guy, and this just makes me happy that GM will hopefully have some competition in the heavy duty market.

Not my style really, if it gets them into selling diesels here though I really don't care cause I want a tacoma sized diesel.

actually there is a decent sized group of people in this country that need a full size truck.  try moving 8 tons of hay down the road with a subaru. just because there are spoiled ass holes in the city that drive around in huge trucks and never put anything in the bed, doesnt mean there is not a large group of people that actually use trucks like these for their intended purpose.

By the way, as soon as you leave a city in Canada, the percentage of trucks goes from like 20% to 75%. Especially in the West. I don't see it changing any time soon.

Toyota wants to be number one, to get there they want to be number one in every aspect. I dont care what gas prices do, people still need trucks to pull boats, for work, just to have (redneck). Trucks will always be wanted, no matter on the gas price.

You're an idiot.

Diesel actually burns cleaner and mroe effiecient.

My mom had a TDI jetta and it only hap 90hp, but nearly 190ft/lbs of torque.

It used to smash a stock honda, and still get 47 mpg on the freeway.

dude i know diesel is more efficient, but are you trying to tell me that a big truck is going to save you money on fuel versus a honda civic? no way.

for some things you NEED a truck. youre not gonna tow a trailer with a civic.

if you tow/haul shit and buy a gas truck, youre wasting money.

yeah exactly. that other dude was telling me im an diot because i said if your were looking at buying a diesel truck for gas mileage, you should look again...he was comparing his moms diesel jetta to a civic style car. both small cars, not comparable to a crew cab truck with duallys...

heres another interesting factoid. unlike in Europe where diesel is cheaper. the us government has decided to keep diesel around 15 cents more expensive at all times.

and i woulndt call this a 450 eater at all. ill set up a chart

Tundra Ford 450

Eng. 8L Hino Diesel 6.8L Triton

Tor. 600 lb.-ft 650 lb.-ft

HP. 300 HP 350 HP

not really a 450 killer and im not even going to compare it to a cummins dodge, or a gmc.

i'm from sask, where just about everyone and their dog farms. the need for trucks is large for hauling livestock, feed, etc, etc. the need for trucks will not soon diminish around here. what makes me mad is that a guy who lives just down the block from me (i'm in regina) drives one of these:

See but the way to do it is to have a big truck to haul your sled/quad/fat older sister around in, and then have a tiny car with good gas mileage like an Impreza for a daily driver.

i'll admit they're kind of cool, but why does my neighbor in the city need one? i've seen him picking up his kids from school with it even though his house is like 3 blocks away. it should not be a daily driver, but i feel it is.

Daily driver in the summer for me is a 250 ninja, bitch gets like 40-50 mpg it's awesome. I go from spending over 50$/week on v6 yota tacoma to spending like maybe 10 bucks a week. I save mad money when I ride my bike.

Dude that's a total work truck. The only reason you need that truck is to do heavy moving. The bed acts of a dump truck, it's sick. Daily driver though, thats kinda a waste of money forsure.
