Extra Cushoning on the Shins

Waddaya think? I've got some bad shin bang right now and no matter how much I ice it and what not, it still hurts. So I'm gonna find some foam and stuff to add some extra cushoning inside my boots, I'm just hoping it works.

Any of you done this before? How did it turn out?

the foam inside the boots doesn't really help. i think its from stretching the muscles and shit in front of your shins. i had that a lot last year and i found out it was from landing back seat and stretching my shins out. it does hurt like a bitch, try to loosen the top of your boots a bit and see if that works or adjust your boots so they're softer.

usually boot bang is caused by skiing backseat or landing back seat. what happens is when you ski backseat/land backseat your legs get tweaked backwords. and when you have skis on that tweaking turns into a shit load of torque, mainly concentrated on your shins. because of this the muscle connected directly to your shin gets torn off your shin causing boot bang. because of that boot bang takes like two weeks or more to go away and at times it hurts to the point where you can barely walk. if you have it ice your shins as much as possible. and do calf raises on some stairs or something, that will help get those shin muscles stronger. stretch your quads a lot. besides that just make sure to avoid backseat skiing and get a pair of boots that fit.

i dont think its your boots, ithink its how you tighten them. just try tightening your toe's more and the top of your foot, put your boots on when you are standing up too. leave the top parts of them really loose then itl have more flex and your shins wont slam into the front of them any more. it works for me, all i do is tighten the power strap or whatever its called, and i leaved the whole top part of my boots unclipped, try it.

peace

a tight boot does feel better, but if they don't flex for shit then you'll save your shins with them looser.

The most important thing with shin splintz is landing well, not back seat.

I was considering getting a new pair of boots cause the ones i have never really fit, kinda too narrow... does anyone know if Rossi boots give shin bang?

i heard about this thing called a booster strap heard that it helps a lot. Just search on yahoo and it should be the first thing that pops up.

any boot can and will give you boot bang. it just depends on how they fit and how you use them(landing backseat sucks). booster straps are just like the power straps on your boots, but a little bit wider so you can tighten your boots more efficiently. the tighter the better.
