Hey guys,

So recently I invested in an external monitor (24" Samsung) for editing. Its a nice big view but when I'm watching videos online (vimeo, youtube, NS) as the source, there is a green bar at the top and the layers of the video are shifted. I have an HDMI connection from my laptop to the monitor.

Here's a picture of what happens when watching a video

You can see the green bar and if you look at the skier you can see two of him.

So my question is, does anyone know whats wrong and how i can fix it?

Thanks NS, any help is much appreciated

if its a laptop, i don't think there is much you can do other than buy a new laptop. there is talk of the potential to use an external graphics card with thunderbolt on a mac, but this will be a messy and expensive solution if it ever even happens. The only other advice I could say would be to open up activity monitor, check for any other bottlenecks, and possibly try using vlc/a different media program. when I used my netbook, vlc was the most resource friendly. last thing, I may have missed this, but is the line covering a section of the video, or is it just a section that would be blank? and is it all the time, or just for videos?
