Hey ns, Im coming to you in search of some help on computers. I tried google and thought someone here might be able to help. does anyone on here know anything about external graphics cards for windows 7? I currently have Nvidia geforce 310m and am trying to run opengl on my sony vaio laptop... Is it even possible for me to buy an external graphics card and run opengl via that while a different driver is stored/running on my laptop?

any help would be awesome as I dont have a very good idea what Im looking at or talking about. Thank you and cheers

Hello, I am pretty good in computers and have build my own. First off, graphics cards are not OS specific, so it doesn't matter whether you have windows 7 or windows 10, any will get the job done. Now, laptops tend to be much worse than desktops when it comes to graphics cards, even if you have the latest $2000 gaming laptop, a desktop PC would be around $700 for the same power. I highly recommend you save up to buy a desktop rather than spend the time and energy it would take to create an external graphics setup (as that would require the video card, a power supply, and a PCI adapter, which is pretty much 3/5 of a new computer). A highly useful website would be pcpartpicker.com and you should also repost your question to Reddit.com/r/buildapc since some people there are much more experienced than I am. Hope this helps.
