Export Settings for gopro to vimeo

I've just finished editing some gopro clips. it's a short edit, about a minute long. I've done this kind of thing before, but i've never been happy with the quality of the final compressed video. Here's the info:-imovie HD-Gopro shot in setting 4 (30fps and 960p)
it gives me a lot of options which. is the best for vimeo? should i use a custom setting? (sorry the pic is so big) thanks for the help!

o wow the formatting came out weird. i guess the pic is just regular size. looked huge before posting

so i tried it with 720x 480. keep in mind that the skiing isn't that great. my brothers were trying to learn back flips and i only learned the day before. see what you think

school computer's not letting me embed

1280. 1280x720 is what you mean. any why is that best? if your video is 1920x1080, then use 1920x1080. you just want to upload in whatever resolution your video was shot at

no, again not true. hope you are trolling. you should never have any reason to use 720p30p on a GoPro unless your project demands that you HAVE to stay at 720p. Why wouldn't you just use 1080p30p??
720p60p is good for slow motion and filming other people, but I prefer watching 960p30p for POV shots. Even though the slow motion won't be great, you get a much better vertical field of view which is awesome

1280x720 for now, yes.

He should film in 1080x720 next time if he wants to optimise the quality for youtube and vimeo and get rid of the black on the top and bottom.

jesus dude, if you are not trolling then you NEED to stop posting. you really sound like a clever m&a troll though.
but 1080x720 does not exist. you cannot film at that resolution. and that would not optimize quality for youtube and wouldn't get rid of letterboxing.

that's alright, just make sure you for sure know what you're talking about before you post. 1280x720 doesn't really maximize quality. the only way to get the maximum resolution out of youtube and vimeo would be to shoot at 1920x1080.

quick clarifying question: the resolution is quality and not size, right? because i heard that the numbers, 1280x 720 for example, are the amount of pixels. sorta confused. anyway, i exported it in the 'current' setting, which was 720x 480. by current does it mean what i was editing it in? here it is from vimeo. i'll try exporting it again in a higher resolution later just to see how that turns out. yes, it also has less distortion and is higher quality. if you're filming other people, you really don't need it to be as wide as possible. plus you wouldn't use that setting for skiing since it's only 30fps, this would be more for lifestyle shit

it is size as well. the more pixels, the bigger the size. it also determines the shape. think of the dimensions as a ratio. 1920x1080 is going to be a 16:9 ratio, resulting in a rectangular image. 1280x720 will also produce a 16:9 rectangular image, but because there are less pixels, it will be a smaller image.

I cringed at every flip you guys attempted. That was probly the least safe backflip learning session i have ever seen. i would suggest getting very comfortable on a trampoline before trying a backflip on skis. Im surprised nobody got hurt there.

it was really powdery the first day, but got less so by day 2. it was pretty sketchy because my brothers where landing on their heads and stuff. my parents won't get us a tramp, my mom thinks it's too unsafe. how's that for irony.
