Lets get this started. im gonna post because i hate embedded OP vids on 2nd and 3rd pages. this thread will get there

I don't think anyone can argue that odd future/tyler the creator is different and "experiment".

ive found listening to odd future shit, you really gotta listen to the lyrics, because some of the beats are distracting or questionable or not even there. They have some of the wildest shit and its fucking awesome. I can't stop listening to yonkers.

Apparently he was on mushrooms almost the entire time while recording the unseen.

Anyways.

Cannibal Ox is definitely experimental.

my definition would be anything that is pushing the boundaries of hiphop. so if you wanted, the mainstream stuff could be considered experimental as it is based more around repetition and synthesizers than ever before.

but its not good

oops meant to hit preview. so i know that both of these are in the stickied song thread, but they should go in here also./static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

i hope hip-hop doesn't turn into anything like the music in this thread. lets go back to the late 90s early 2000s that was the golden age of hip hop

I just like this because it sounds so much better than what's out on the radio right now. And the lyrics are somewhat meaningful as well.

that song was pretty sick. but i just dont get how tyler the creator and shit like that is so appealing to people

i really dislike all those frat boy rappers. mac miller, wiz, sam adams. asher kinda belongs on the list but some of his stuff is actually good

D.I.T.C is as far from experimental as i can think their pretty much a standard in hip hop i feel.

Two Remixes by Buckwild that are sick

I can't believe Jay Dee or Madlib (except that Quasimoto track) have not been posted they definitely were as experimental as it got back in the day.

Love how Madlib flipped this compared to Dilla.

Dilla

Pretty much every track on Donuts is flawless. Jay Dee was no doubt the best producer ever. I highly recommend downloading his discography.

Documentary on J Dilla

"J.Dilla: Still Shining" from B.Kyle on Vimeo.

blended more with indie music than before, i would call sage a pioneer:

most of the stuff off plastic beach could be different, do you agree?

Thats kind of like saying all freeskiing is experimental. Its true, but some people (Lolo, pollard, axe hill) are pushing the boundaries further than others (colby, chug). these people are good at what there is, but they arent really bringing anything new to the table.

Kapoww!! South Africa is pushing some sick hip hop right now.
