Experiences with ski rage

Theres something more entertaining than "skateboarders vs." stories/videos, so Im curious to hear NS' stories about on-mountain squabbles. The classic scenario for my local resort was angry dads threatening to kick your ass after they/their kids cut you off on a feature and almost got hit. Ironic that in most of these cases we were just barely older than their kids, and they would taunt that they have "no problem dealing with entitled punks"

Aired a cattrack about 15 feet in front of a kid pizzaing along after I called 'dropping'. Straightlined the bumps on the next slope down to the tram bridge. A minute later this kid's dad is in my face about how I almost wiped his kid out and that I clearly wasn't in control. I'm not the arguing type usually so I just said

"sorry, didn't mean to."

Hear, "YES YOU DID!" as I'm walking away.

I see him talking to patrol afterwards, but no one says anything to me. Ski patrol are cool, and at snowbird are usually young, good skiers who know anyone who regularly skis there. Not much point in arguing with people when there's skiiing to be done.

One time I was in the BC and stepped out of my ski in a narrow chute and made a business decision to slip to lower ground before attempting to clip back in. Well this guy came out of the woods below me and apparently decided I wasn’t good enough to be skiing there and started flipping me a bunch of shit about how you’re supposed to ski or something. My buddy I was with was not having it at all and we exchanged some harsh words but went about our day. Never gone out of my way to pick a fight on a POW day, makes no sense.

I can definitely see myself getting in some kids faces someday when I’m a crotchety old dad with a chip on my shoulder about the bad grooming job the night before.

its hard to get into a ski rage situation if you just

a. dont be an idiot

b. say sorry preemptively to diffuse the situation

c. avoid traffic heavy areas

d. if all else fails just REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
