Experiences with pros

I didn't get to talk to him, but a few years ago at Snoqualmie Pass, Hornbeck was shredding around in the park and he was super chill to everyone.

Also was doing the cleanest switch 7s I have ever seen in my life.

Hornbeck is one of the most down to earth people I have had the pleasure to meet. Really sets the vibe in the bittersweet park when he's around.

I’ve met Chris Benchetler a few times, super down to earth and chill guy who’s down to talk skiing for a few minutes. Whether it’s on the chair or in the grocery store.

I second this, he hardly acts like a pro, more of just a nice dude you'll see on the hill

Met tanner, henrikh and Phil casa on at highfive last year! All of them were super nice, T and henrikh were in front of an hotel chatting while I came and asked for a picture with my little bro, he was wearing a faction hoodie and myself an armada, they were joking about his hoodie and agreed to take a pic, tanner even responded to me on insta after the viewing! Super dope guy! I met Phil in the streets of Annecy, he was alone with a little notebook in his hand, kinda like a modern day poet ahah I loved his vibe, he was soooo chill, surely high?.

Last year on the closing day of la clusaz I met the faction crew while they were filming for the collective (Antti ollilla, benjamin forthun, Alex hall). They were eating and agreed to take a pic with me and my bro, super dope guys.

I've only had excellent experience with pro skiers, they seem to be down to earth and relatable!

Most interactions I've had with pros have all been super good and they all real chill, Woodsy however is the best person I have ever met hands down. The dude is so genuine and so stoked on life and skiing.

I don't think I've ever not seen the guy stoked.

my buddy met alex hackel and mr mango

he said mango is super nice and chill but hackel was not very nice

I met hackel at hood this summer and he was hella nice

Talked to Sammy Carlson for a bit when I spent a season in revelstoke. Pretty cool and relaxed guy. He actually started talking to me and said „ nice gloves“ because I wore his signature gloves.

I got to talk with Ian Compton a bit at tell a friend tour at trollhaugen a few years ago. Super chill dude just out there vibing really seemed like a normal guy

I met Will Wesson at my home hill one time, he was super nice and talking to everyone, I remember him giving advice to some kid that bent his brake. He's the only pro I've seen ride, the dude was so focused and comfortable on a rail it's crazy. Truly a master of what he does.

Anyone ever met Cody Townsend?

no but fwiw my friends have only had positive things to say about the guy

i spent some time with candide and you'll be happy to hear he's the chillest MFer on the planet. you can tell he takes his skiing really seriously but he's super humble

LJ and ian compton deserve shout outs for being extra cool but most skiers are chill dudes and girls, i can't think of a negative thing to say about anyone ive met that's worth bringing up, but then i never spent much time in the comp scene and that's the place to find douchey skiers haha

Forgot he existed for a minute. Definitely miss the content he was putting out when he skied for line.

I rode a tbar with Daniel Hanka when I was like 14. I talked about how cool I though he was the whole time. I actually feel a little awkward looking back on it.

one time i hit quan with a skateboard but he said it was cool cuz i didnt chip his teeth. one time ahmet fixed my skis for me cuz I was living in the woods without tools. pros are people too. except maybe swadburg he's just a little lamb

Back when Sunday River had the Dumont Cup it was always super cool to hang out and ski with the pros, all of the top guys came and it was pretty chill because it wasn’t a super big contest so they focused a lot on fan interaction. Freestyle skiing is a cool sport because you can meet your heroes pretty easily, they ski the same slope you do. Where as it is not probable you would ever get to hang out or even meet Lebron or Tom Brady .

met tom wallish at dew tour killington when i was maybe 12. I was too nervous to really talk to him but he chopped up with my dad for a few minutes. i thought that was cool.

One year at IF3 I was pretty drunk and talked with Charlie Owens for about 45 minutes. I just kept telling him how him and the Stept guys were artists and what they were doing was art lol.

Met jossi wells a few years back and I gotta say I’ve never met a more bitter dude in my life, the guy just gave off super weird vibes. He had a massive drinking problem back then and was a huuuuge boozer, just hope he turned his life around and is on the straight and narrow

I met Sean Pettit's dad who was selling sausages at a jazz festival. Bout as good as it gets in Ontario.

Last season I got to film and edit with him for my local hill, it was super chill. No ego at all just a normal guy.

Met Will Wesson and Laurent Demartin at a bar in Japan that was showing the new Level 1 movie, talked for a while because nobody else there could speak english. Afterwards I got a bit too drunk, somehow managed to piss into the crack between the seat and the toilet while I was taking a shit, and had to walk home in -12 weather with my pants frozen to my leg. The movie was good though

Nubs? Saw him posting some promotional looking stuff for them.

Met Gus a few times in Telluride. He was cool but the last time I saw him I was like 14 and took a pic with him and posted it on the gram and he blocked me. Still not really sure what all that was about.

I met CR Johnson back in 2007 at CU at a 4FRNT Demo. The stories about him are 100% true, he was hands down the most stoked and down to earth guy I ever met. He actually chilled and we talked about 10 min about 4FRNT and the CRJ he was designing etc.

I had a group project with Matt Walker for our Entrepreneurship class at CU. He was a cool guy and a funny dude, him and Wickes were always cool to chill with. He would always have to dip out of our work early to do yoga or some other training though. I remember when we did our final presentation we were supposed to get all dressed up and he wore a headband but we kind of just rolled with it. Thug era...

Nick Martini was in the dorms with me at Hallett hall, although he was 2 floors up. I only hung out with him once and didnt really know anything about STEPT at the time. He had his room set up crazy though, they put one of the bunk beds sideways in front of the door with just enough room to walk around it and had this heavy sheet thing hanging down. That way they could kind of make it an airlock and seal the room and blaze without the smell going through the door. Kind of unrelated but this other random girl in the dorms jumped out of the second story window when the cops raided her room and sprained both of her ankles so we called her Tanner Hall the rest of the year lol.

I saw Tanner Hall in the Timberline parking lot and tried to play it cool. Under my goggles I was totally staring at him though. I got back to my car and realized I had already taken my goggles off and super cringed. I’m sorry t hall.

going to have a list of this so hold on:

-had sarah burke sign my chest

-met candide thovex the season i lived in colorado (this was big for me as he was my childhood hero)

-had a conversation about breakfast foods with Tom Wallisch (he was wearing the same hoodie as my homie and mistaked him at first)

-had a drunk convo with TJ Schiller about how skiing both helped us deal with negatives life can throw you and how we overcame school bullies from it

-smoked a joint with Max Hill

-Had a large glass of scotch with Justin Dorey and Noah Bowman

-Scrappy Joe taught me my first dub on trampolines when he and his homies were chilling at woodward copper

-Noah Wallace randomly gave me pointers on Super fronts one day

- Randomly met Jason Levinthal when Powder magazine was doing Demos at Red Mountian this year and I was on a ski trip with the homies

-Took a chiar up with Will Wesson and talked about the horror movie Frozen and crows that steel your lunch at the top of breck

-ski a few times with Emile Bergeron

- agree with you LJ is a really awesome and funny guy

-The one that would have been really cool is that the audio company PK did audio for the Snow Rodeo Slopestyle in Calgary, AB last year. My co-worker was working it and got some pics of e-dollo. I had to explain to him how many amazing skiers were down there and how jealous i was that he was on that gig

probably have a few more but those are the ones that stick out most notably in my head. and I will say that all of these guys were really nice people

If I met Candide I would probably stutter until he walks away.

Probs just saw the noti and thought you were a bot

I was on the lift at Key with Noah Wallace a few years back, neither of us said anything to each other. Then my dad ducked the rope to walk out onto the closed area where they were building the big jump line and started yelling to try to get my attention up on the lift. Then the park crew walked out and started yelling at him to say he wasn’t allowed to be there and stuff. I could tell Noah was looking at him thinking “who’s this joker”. I just pretended it wasn’t me that he was yelling at

I really hope Jossi is clean and sober now, he was a complete and utter mess when I met him. After his ski career went down the shitter he just became a very mean and bitter dude.

Have met and rode with the Line guys a few times. Andy Parry is the man. Something that stuck with me when chatting up on the lift was me asking how he enjoys doing the traveling circus for so many years.

He replied he was for sure living the dream but it’s way more exhausting than anyone knows. He also said it was “like being on a concert tour for 10 years, but all of your fans are middle school aged boys.”

He then thanked me and my small group of 25ish something year olds for coming out and giving them some adults to ride with.

I got kicked in the face by Tanner at the savage beagle in Whistler when he was break dancing on the dancefloor. He did not care but CR apologized for him. Does that count?
