Experiences meeting famous skiers

Back in October me and a friend went to the mad dogs and English men tour woodsy did in the UK and got to meet and ski with some amazing skiers! I personally felt really chill just speaking to Woodsy, Noah Morrison and Vinny Cash these guys were just so friendly and nice and I have mad respect for them but then the Wells brothers were there and I don't know they just seemed like they were only there to get some footage and pics for themselves. Like Woodsy and the guys were chatting away to us, approaching us and helping us with tricks were as Jossi and Wacko hardly spoke to any locals and we're just constantly snaking all the kids try to hit the jump (dry ski slope, only 1 jump) still have respect for these guys they're amazing skiers but it put me off them a bit but heyho but like I said Woodsy and the rest of the skiers were all super friendly and helpful and I have even more respect for them now! All in all definetly bullshit when people say you should never meet your heros!

Freestyle skiing is the one sport where legends can become your friends. Its really cool getting to meet people you've admired for however long.

Just remember, they are regular people too so try not to be weird and fan out. Just be casual, tell them that you like their skiing and don't be annoying. Sometimes people are in talkative moods for whatever reasons.

The first skier that I looked up to and then met was Ian Compton. I remember my excitement made it so i could barely talk hahaha. Always cool to meet these guys in real life.

not necessarily a "famous" skier but i met bobby Sullivan a few weeks back at mount snow and i rode up the lift with him hes chill af. Most skiers I have met are really chill and friendly. Very few times have I met a douchebag skier.

Talked to John Collinson a bit on the tram @ Jackson. Never clicked in my mind that it was him until I saw his kit on Instagram later and recognized his redbull fur hat and faction skis. JHole is like the Hollywood of big mountain skiing though so its not surprising at all to run into those guys/gals.

You sound like a fucking idiot. They're skiers just like you except they're not pieces of gaper trash. "OMG I MET A PRO!" good job you jackass, you met a person at a ski resort. Mission accomplished. You may now die an honorable death of stabbing a sword into your abdominal.

They're people.

There's nothing special about people who get put on by companies or make a living skiing.

They're normal people who happen to be ridiculously good at skiing

Not discounting the regular people thing, for sure I hear that and its all good. But that right there I think is still pretty special, doesn't mean their like super people whom we should worship but yeah, Its pretty amazing. Can make regular old mostly just slide the rails or an occasional 270 out skiers like me sperge out a bit. Like when I saw Cole Drexler a while ago at Louie, I think my eyes went a little wide and I just said hey, we exchanged a couple basic Canadian greetings and he went on his way, but its a thrill enough for me to talk to random people, so my palms were sweaty from that lol. Was so pissed I was working that day.

Rode up the lift w nick goepper at hood a couple years ago, didn't say anything cause all he did was stretch the whole time and i was high as shit so I was hella uncomfortable

My dentist has met LJ Strenio. He told me he was skiing out west somewhere and this guy came flying out of nowhere and did a "720 spin flip" right next to him. He followed him down to the lift and talked with him a bit. I'm pretty sure they skied a few laps together too.

met tanner hall on a lift in early season at boreal. coolest guy I have ever met and even took time out of his day to help me out in the park... throughout this season I have seen him a total of 3 times, its getting kinda weird now

I met Tom wallisch at seven springs last year and he was really cool I also met andy parry and ross imburgia at mad river for taft this year and wwere super awesome love to meet pro skiers

My friend said his cousin met Nick Goepper at Winter park a few years ago. He mentioned how Nick was an absolute douche and didn't even communicate with anyone but skiers around his level or friends. It could be BS or totally true, someone prove me wrong or right please.

If had the chance to talk to some at freestyle.ch over the years. All really chill dudes as I expected.

It's no problem at all to talk to them if they have some time.

I took a run on Tom Wallisch's skis at 7 springs last year, he was super chill. Also hung out with his dad and pet his dog lol 10/10 experience

Johnny Mosely came over to our spring ski parking lot Apres. He had a margarita from our engine powered blender. He was really cool and easy going. Not gonna lie I get a lil starstruck in those situations but the booze helped me from getting too weird

ive heard this too, i think there is a thread on this

I've skied with Scrappy Joe a couple times now. When we were at tline a few days ago LJ Strenio complemented my friends misty 5 nose.

I see Tom Wallisch at least once a season. Really cool guy.

A few years ago Good Company came to my home mountain on the very last day we were open. Khai Krepela pulled me out of a pond after I tried skimming it. Like 10 minutes afterward I caught Chris Laker smoking a bowl underneath a tree lol.

I've met Nick Goepper before. Idk about the above posts, but when I met him he was an alright guy.

Met Forster Meeks at Brighton a few years back. Definitely the coolest pro I've ever met. Real down to earth guy.

In the fall I saw Compton wheeling some females, one on each side, walking down Church street and he was decked out in camo. Thought it was pretty funny.

During the Inspired tour I got to meet the crew that went to Pats Peak. Talked a bit to Phil and Henrik and skied with Brady Perron a ton. I stabbed all 3 with my pole when we were hiking rails. Gona cherish that pole and mount it on my wall soon.

Perron taught me how to tail press that night, then saw him the next year at Sunapee (his home mountain) and thanked him for going out of his way to be a homie to some kid who was trash at skiing. All of them were cool ass dudes.

He skis at boreal a shitload...seen him multiple times there...he also lapped squaw park a crap load last year and I saw him a couple times

Yeah pretty much my sitch too. At first chair fest he was just ranting about how much he hates Tahoe and how he never wanted to go there again.....guess where he has been all season lololol

Yeah one day I really wanna take chairs up with wabs and woodsy. I'm not even a massive fan of woodsy's skiing, but he seems like the nicest guy ever. My friend met him at momentum. My teacher was dating dave crichton and I've seem him around.

Two awesome and cool dudes I met at Bachelor. A third one has gotten pretty big as of late, but I have known him for years.

Any guesses who these folks are?

This is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read. Nick is about the raddest, nicest kid you will ever meet and fully down with helping the grom's and being there to sign autographs and just be a cool dude and hang out. You've obviously never met Nick.

My friends friend's uncles cousin said he met TWall and he was an asshole to them. That's what you sound like when you've never met the kid.

I was a "VIP" at iF3 once...so yeah, ran into a few industry folk (aka "pros") during that mildly fuzzy weekend. Pretty sure I was also at SIA once too...probably ran into a few people there. The problem with these kinds of events is that they're generally challenging to remember afterwords, haha.

Hmm I think I see a felon! Bwahahahaha, aw he done fucked up

Rode the lift with Phil Casabon one time. He was really nice. I was in school at the time and wanted to ask him about his skiing, but he was to busy asking me questions about my major for me to get a question for him in. I was studying Economics and he was really interested in that.

Met a ton of dudes out of Michigan, some are pretty pro and some not so much. Some are really cool, some were real d bags.

Hornbeck is the chilliest and most down to earth pro I've ever met.

B Paul -super dope chilling guy, good vibes.

Joss - nicest guy super chill, even remembered my homie he met the year earlier just from me telling him where I skied.

Woodsy - super dope guy, always stoked.

Corey Vanular- real chill dude, when we were lapping last year I could remember him about once a day going up to random little shredders giving them pointers on tricks

Carney - good vibes always stoked, real fun to lap with, even better watching him in person then in vids.

Just some that come to mind, don't like to talk smack but there's one guy I've heard being a dick. One buddy was at momentum a few years back and was in Garfs one night and saw Torin in there and went up to him and claims to ask him in a joking matter if he was even old enough to be in there and he responded with who the fuck are you and told him to piss off. Not first hand but I believe my buddy

i feel like so many people meet tanner like this. I was talking on the phone outside of the venue for firstchair fest in slc this past fall and tanner (hammered) wandered over to me and fist bumped me and asked me if I was "getting it" or something like that. if course i was like oh yeah definitely. he also had a classic thall rant before showing his movie project for the year.

what a guy

Hmmm....I hope not. I saw him just a few days ago too. Didn't talk to him much. He was in the line ahead of me.

I liked when he said he "was just a ski bum" So maybe he is a "Pro Ski Bum" like me.

Nice guy. Not pretentious at all.

I did get to meet Andy Perry during TAFT. He's so chill and extremly funny 😂😂

Andy Perry served me chili once at Timberline Lodge. I gave a frantic THall directions to his gate at PDX. Skied some non-park laps with Logan.

I imagine that every stinky fuck riding Stormin Norman at Tline in the spring is some level of pro. Lot of fuckers I can't wait to get off the lift with.

Talked to Tim Ryan last year at PC on a chair and basically talked about college and skiing and shit. He's a rad dude, deserves more attention. Super down to Earth and brings positive vibes

chatted with Andy Parry and Jeff Curry on a chair at meadows, both super chill and inspiratoinal dudes in my mind

They're normal people who ski for a living. Don't think you'll see too much a difference, except maybe with the VERY top tier comp guys

Back in 2012 I met Mark Abma, Gus Kenworthy, and Cody Townsend at the world premiere of Superheros of Stoke in Seattle

Holy shit, who would have thought you'd meet pros at a ski premiere!?

This thread is AIDS

I've never met any pros but I know kids who met Wallisch. They said he was a dick, but it was also post comp, and they were drunk and probably being annoying, and he was probably exhausted lol. Another friend met Henrik and got to ride with him and said he was the man.

I talked to bobby brown in the lift line. hes pretty chill and a nice guy.

Also joked around with Wallisch at 7 springs.
