Examples of Altruism, or good simaritains

I have to write a paper for a class, and it has to be on someone who does things for others with no intent of personal gain from it. an example would be oprah, or mother theresa, but he told us we couldnt do any famous people, so i turn to newschoolers for ideas.
 
google kravinsky I won't get into the whole thing...but the guy made like 45 million in the stock market and gave like 40 of it away...not sure if that's what you're looking for

he goes to haiti and does free dental and orthodontal work on kids who have mouth problems/cant afford it otherwise.
 
puting oprah in with mother theresa is a stretch....but if you're looking for non-famous people, look up Aki Ra, Cambodian who started an independant mine clearing campaign and museum to rival the government run one.
 
i wasnt comparing them, its just that the first person i asked said to do mother theresa, so i used her as an example, and in class the teacher said oprah for famous people we couldnt do, so i also used her as an example
 
I just did a couple papers on similar stuff

Some people (who are real, most i did were on novel characters) i dicussed were

Oscar Schindler (Schindler's list) Who saved a bunch of Jewish people during the holocaust, he did not start out altruistic but changed and spent all his money on saving peoples lives

Paul Rusesabagina (Hotel Rwanda,) During the Rwandan genocide did something similar to Schindler, saved hundreds of peoples lives.
