i have seen the light and quit. last year was my last racing year. i still race nordic, but im done gate bashing. this does kinda create a problem though, because i always want a pair of twins that hold up at speeds. last year i had the concepts and they were ok, and i just got the PEs (woohoo!). anyone else like this?

I only raced a local race to see how I would do never been on a team it was my first time running gates. There was people (teams) who drove here from vermont (14 hours) just to race the Cupp Run Challenge. I was standing in line getting ready to go and I was the only kid who wasnt wearing spandex, a helmet or tuning his skis on the side of the slope I didnt know how serious some of these kids were. I had to goto work before the award ceremony so I dont even know how I placed compared to others but I prolly beat some.

alot of my friends enjoy racing and im not sure what to do, follow them or freeski with 17 yr olds

i race, but if im freeskiing im bustin out in the park, i dont train 24/7, but im at the hill with my coach 2 days a week, we dont always train gates tho, its mainly freeski for the first 2 1/2 months, then we start gates a bit

racings just as fun as the park and the back country, a different feeling. i cut plenty of days to skip training for powder days and shit ( the mountain i skied at has no park) but rallying gs turns and shit is fun too. and i mean most of the big mountain guys have pretty intense racing records... and jon olsson has pretty good FIS points still. i dont know where the hate comes from here... but i do know that there were a bunch of dumbasses who posted in the 'dumbest thing ive done' post that they ducked ropes onto courses and almost hit people and shit... and that deserves a beat down as far as im concerned.

 
last year was my last...i got the 1080, because the best race skis i've ever owned were salomon, and the 1080's had a simlar shape.

Racing was far too structured and too much maintenance....that and the fact that i placed horribly led me to quit

Yeah i still race on my team and it is really fun.. i totally dif. then park the only thing bad is pratice everyday but the gs suits even out if you have hotties on your team like mine.

i still race too, and it can be fun but sometimes theres like too much pressure and it takes up a lotta time. there were a lot of powder days last year where i wanted to let loose but couldnt cause i was stuck racin

word reggeaconcept...I want a good twin that can go fast everywhere. I used to race but I wasnt hardcore, i just did it to ski with people i knew. I love going fast, but I have figured out that racing isnt how I want to ski.

im a big time racer its the only thing ive known for a long time but now im in to freestyle its fucking awesome catching big air trying sick tricks and its even cool eating it of a big kicker but nothing can compare to the adreniline you get from bombing a hill on the verge of bieng out of control i freeski now but im giving madd props to the racers

 
i just never got into it, thas cool if u like it i guess, but the whole turning around a bunch of poles all day never appealed to me, id rather just go ski, or now that we've got the park do that

i raced on copper, then summit for like 6 years or so. it was fun at the begginning, but then i was just getting burned out. super g was my favorite event, it was so fast and had sweet turns. i quit cuase it just wasnt fun anymore, and the coaches were apart of it too. but i definently like skiing where ever and when ever i want a lot better than training all the friekin time.

Racing is awesome , i like going fast it also builds a good foundation for skiing, the tight suits suck but it's cool to be an all around skier

for one, if u like being pushed, disciplined and made to do training 8 hours a day on every weekend, well how is that fun? And the gate thing, it's fun for a second, maybe 2 runs.

the only good thing you really get out of racing is really, really good technical skills. also, very few parkrats out there are reformed racers. some people love it, but i think its mostly because of the competition. i guess it could be fun, but its way too structured for me

speakin of big racers has anyone ever seen a girl racer who doesnt have a huge ass? and anyone see the guy in the new freeze whose just ripped or got guns the size of something big. Racers are huge but only time i ever see them is racing. i used to race though it helps a ton for jumping.

thank you cj... and at least most racers never spent a day on snowblades... and thanks chick from northern who ive probably seen at big mountain or somewhere for posting jons points... and yeah. big mountain skiers=ex racers. freeskiers often= ex mogul skiers... same idea. queers who only ski park often= people who cant ski for shit so they have to spend all their time in the air.

 
I might try racing next year if my Whistler plans fall through. Free skiing, free travel, and more girls then there are in the park. Not all of them have big asses.

anyone who says madtrix dont do all mountain is a dumbass, i used to race, and so far madtrix are the only ski i have used that actually carve descently, the PEs are so fucking horrible, heavy, flexible, and they dont carve for shit, and who gives a shit about vertical sidewalls?

racing isn't bad, it's just different. If I could do it all over again, I'd have my parents stick me in a race program at the age of 3, and quit at the age of 16, just to get the important technical skills that I'm still lacking.

It's nice to see Jon Olsson still ACTIVE in FIS points, even though he hasn't competed since 2002, according to the FIS website.

SKIER: How would you describe your style?

PJ Cliche: Total skate influence. Even doh dis is on concrete, an you are face sideways, an it has sweet fuck all to do with ski, skate 'as play a huge role wit my steeze.
 
I definatly miss banging gates.

As far as the skis go, after something on your PE's break, get some 4Frnt MSP's. You'll like them, stiff, and damp as hell. 1080's also rail out carves really well and are suprisingly damp for how soft of a flex they have.....tons of edge grip though.

 
i don't think nobis misses racing. pre freeride: training like a motherfucker, no heli skiing, lots of fis redtape. post racing: his own ski, assload of heli skiing, progressed big mountain skiing.
