We'll skiing is a sport as we all know. And skiing takes physical ability as im sure any skier knows. But what most people dont do in the off-season is train. And I dont mean skateboard or whatever in the summer. I mean hit the gym or get on a fitness plan. The lack of prepairation for the season is ruining alot of seasons. I know alot of people who have gotten hurt, and a majority of them regularly work out, however I have seen a spike in injuries this year ( including myself). Probably from such a situation. Those who have hurt themselves were pushing their limits and I wish them a quick recovery. But those who have escaped the luring injuries of skiing take warning, and chug a protien shake or two!

A friendly reminder to be safe,

love mski.

I usually road bike a lot before the season starts...this season i didn't and I've had soooooooo many minor injuries. Probably about 7 or 8

help with a lot of injuries but some stuff cant be prevented no matter how good of shape ur in. That being said i work out every day and i havent been injured yet. Just a bunch of bruises and minor sprains.

that's defiantly right, I play football and theres a big emphasis on lifting because not only does it strengthen your muscles but it prevents a lot of injury's. So when the seasons over, hit the gym, it'll help your skiing a lot too

in the summer i always jsut get drunk do random halleucinagens (sp?)that my friends offer me then get high and jump off rocks into tahoe cus thats pretty much all there is to do cept go skating but i get hurt way to much when i skate

golfing is fun too

summer suks

lifting weights may make your muscles stronger, but in our line of work, you need your muscles to be flexible also. trainging your muscles to slowly lift in a gym isnt good cross over to skiing, thats why most of us do call skateboarding training, because it keeps your body flexible while strengthening.

GET A JOB, try a summer job that you'll break a sweat doing it.

if you're strong landing on a rail or smashing into a tree probially isnt going to hurt as much

unforunately for me im not strong

i stay in too good of shape from fucking soccer we run no lie like 10 miles per day during conditioning in like 90 degree weather sucks balls but oh well...

i definitely agree i mean i bike in summer and run and i think it helps me to an extent but there is taht point with bones where it doesnt matter how in shape you are but that bone is gonna break if you fall on it right

same here, plus i worked out and ran before and after the season and i havent had any big injury yet, knock on wood. Do you guys lift durring the season at all?

I workout, take whey protein and eat a balanced diet and still ended up with a fractured rib and fractured thumb. I don't care what the hell you do to train in the off season, if you're going to get injured it's just going to happen, no matter what you do to prevent it.

yo mountain bike. dh racing is way more gnar than pretty much all in bounds skiing so it toughens you up quite a bit. and tossin in some xc is always a killer work out. fuck the gym though if I'm gonna spend an hour or two tiring myself out I'm gonna do something fun and worthwhile in the process. I know lots of peeps who do find pumpin the iron to be fun and shit but that's definately not my steeze.
