Everybody is skiing without poles

Now I have tried it out and I do like it. For instance its way easier to do grabs. But when your on rails and boxes it doesn't feel right.

Now my main point in this is that everbody at my ski hill is rocking no poles. Just yesterday (sunday) I was watching big air for the little kids compettion. When I went to take my skis off where the other skiers had taken theirs off I noticed the lack of poles next to them. I was the only person to have my poles next to my skis.

No poles was just for fun but now its getting legit. With Pep and Andy going no poles at the X games and that really steezy guy on the top rated video section throwing down with no poles.

I like having poles, they help me get around. I don't want to shuffle around or pull my self along the sides of the lift lines like snowboarders or beginners.

Being an instructor I teach kids to use poles and its great to see them go from no poles and stumbling around to a pretty damn good skier making hop turns and pole taps. Poles really help you be a good skier. Maybe you are strict park, but your not young forever and your gonna pick up those poles again to hold you old body up when you ski. So don't forget to use your poles because you might need them some day, and it would be nice to know how to use them.

I don't know bout everybody, but I skied seen a couple dudes at alta who were pole=less...

by the way "ski and destroy" we've got a hoodie for ya..

it makes you look like a fucking snowbladder yet no polers still try to bash them but the truth is there no beter than them and most of the people that dont use poles are a bunch of tools who want to be just like pep if its so fun why didnt you guys try it 2 years ago?

Haha, I could care less what everyone else does. No pole runs are fun, but I'll keep using mine for all the serious skiing I do.

for the past 2 weeks ive been going no poles cause they broke and i was too lazy to steal other ones and at first i liked it but now i dont.. it makes my style on rails look horrible and it def is easier on jumps but i dont do jumps anyway cause i suck at jumps

i cant not use poles. but if u like it then go for it but my budy just got back from pc and he said no one in the park had poles everyone was goin no poles and they gave him mad dirty looks for havin poles evern tho they were all 12 and hes 17, thats just gay that once no poles catches on everybody does it just cuz its cool to do. unless ur tom wallisch it looks gay fo real no one i have seen in person has ever made it look good

why not this seems to be the calmest one so far

like power to you if you dont use poles but i really dont understand why everyone is doing it

t-wall makes it look rediculously good tho i have to admit

haha, true. I dropped my poles about 2 weeks before that edit came out, and now everyone jumped on the wagon. Like, tonnes of skiers at my hill are doing it....i saw NPM's pic, and i gave it a shot..and its super fun.

I just think skiers are getting better balance and a better feel for their skis. We only need poles for balance, so those of us who don't use them just have better balance... don't be jealous!!

I do it more than not, but a bunch of little kids who CANNOT SKI are now doing it, and ik feel like im poutting them on the wrong foot.

i kinda wanna give it a try, definitely seems like it'll help with getting and tweaking grabs, seems like it be awkward on rails though. I'm probably gunna give it a go this weekend for a couple runs.

ive skied a day without poles cus i left them at home but i feel stupid cus you dont know what to do with your hands

um. thats rather ignorant. It's probably because they've tried it and liked the feel of it. If i end up going no poles it'll be purely based on whether or not i like how it feels. Sure its not very practical for out of the park, i'd still use my poles there but for park im gunna give no poles a go for a couple runs.

if you're doing jumps, or rails, or halfpipe, what are poles useful for? they don't do anything. they make it harder to grab, and it's just another thing to hurt you when you fall. it's personal opinion as to whether or not it looks good, but it's just a fact that poles aren't actually useful for the park.

of course, if i'm doing anything outside the park, i'll use my poles, because that's what they are useful for.

haha i like how it used to be anyone who skied no poles was bashed by everyone and now more and more people are siding with no poles

they will all figur eout in the end that it is just a balance booster and dont wanna be rollerbladers anymore

they may make lots of edits together, but I dont think they actually share a penis.

and the fact of the matter is NO POLES IS MAD FUN! it feels weird out of the park but in the park it's so much fun it makes riding the park feel more playful and fun in a way. and even out of the park, it makes skiing switch soooo much better

ok so i think that skiing with no poles in the park is fun and if you can make it look good its sick but at the same time theres too many kids doing it and looking retarded and it kinda wrecks the fun for me because i used to bust no poles in the park before all this pep and andy hype and it was cool because everything is different and you kind of look at things different like doing spears and slashes and cool butters everywhere. personally i dont notice any difference off of jumps or on rails but what i really hate is people skiing no poles all over the mountain. its ok like once or twice, just for fun but kids who ditch their poles completely are just rediculous. everything they do just looks sloppy and out of control unless they are really solid skiers.

everyone in here are SUCH fucking trend whores. for real you guys. stop it. beginning of the season, no poles was GAY. now its the cool thing to do, so kids all a sudden drop thier poles. i agree its fun to do, it does help you become more aware of your balance, but at the same time, its impossible to keep it as clean. ill switch it up now and then, but im not about to drop them entirely because andy and pep didnt use them in the Xgames. come on kids, think for yourself. skiing without poles has been around forever, and you fools always ripped on it. now, your all about it. i call that being a fuckin poser.

Holy shit I just wanted to say that everybody at my ski hill is starteding to rock no poles. I like to rock no poles when I practice but competion, I ski with poles.

And I don't get why some of you guys can't grab your skis cause its harder without poles. What the Fuck?!!! Its way fucking easier. If you can't grab with no poles then you maybe can't grab at all.

And to that guy who thinks everybody started riding no poles after him is way wrong. My buddies including myself were skiing no poles last year. So could the midwest have started a trend?

i go no poles now

my first run with no poles i got backside switch up 270 out. so im not going back unless im actually skiing

i think skiing with poles looks a lot better. but what about all mountain skiing? it seems like goin no poles on that would blow.

anyone who doesnt ski with poles anymore, do u only ski park?

Skiing pole-less only looks good if you can pull it off. Some people can, but the people that cant, just look ridiculous. people tell me i look good without poles but i would never go pole-less. The only time i rock no poles is for steezy ass pocket runs and filming.

TRUE! today i hiked about 25 minutes carrying my fuckin skiis and boots and a shovel to a kicker. when i got there i forgot my poles!
