so im really pumped for my new skates coming tomorrow. the Benny Harmanus Deshi CH1s. there will probably be someone on here saying thy suck or theyre hella good, whatever, i dont really care about your opinion. these skates will suit me fine. anyways, i wantd to post this video of Colin Kelso. he is my favorite skater who just so happens to ride Deshis. i wanted to see if other skiers could respect this guys undeniable talent and style. (HE EVEN THROWS IN A LITTLE AFTERBANG!)

ive been here long enough to know "this is a skiing website" so yeah, knock me down a karma point if you feel obliged to.

"ive been here long enough to know "this is a skiing website" so yeah, knock me down a karma point if you feel obliged to."

dude, you're posting in NSG so it doesn't really matter what you talk about...unless it's something really lame, which skating isn't.

jea, i know. but keep in mind there are alot of kids here that will mention that regardless.

Sick skating, but I really don't like the emo steeze though. Although I've been getting out of the sport for the past year, I still feel a part of it, and I really hate to see the stupid scarfs and tight pants. Blading already has a hard enough time getting respected as it is, and doesn't need guys like that just making it look worse to people who aren't in the sport. I respect his skating, but I don't like his clothing style (which is still a part of style).

jea i can understand that man. i personally dont like the look of guys swimming in their 6xl shirts (in rollerblading. in skiing baggy is the only way to go) and just my 2 cents, i dont really see his style as emo, more like Urban Outfitters shopper haha, and i do get alot of my shit there so hey, i like it just fine.

thanks for not being a hater and making a respectable post. plus karma no doubt.

i nominate Tanner Hall to undergo another transformation. urban destruction Tanner Hall - beard.

yeah, he's a cool. Skated a few times with him and his brother mainly at drexel univ . Skated with jeff fredricks (dickhead) and some other philly types. Shuda should make a real comeback but such is life. It's sad where inline went though, but again........ such is life

i'm still lost on where this afterbang came from..... landing like that in rollerblading is just how it's always been. There was never a need for a name, it was just style

Haha, these videos made me go outside and search my garage for a pair of rollerblades just for fun. unfortunately all I could find was an old pair of hockey style ones that I can't get laced up well enough so that I have ankle support though. Anyone know where I could find a pair in calgary? Not just normal ones, the aggressive inline type.

That was so sick it makes me wanna get some haha.

skiing would look pretty wack if people weren't so sure to put on a fashion show to distract the eyes while sliding sideways on a box or rail as if they were wearing a pair of soap shoes that featured extended heels and toes

That was quite fucking gangsterish, and it does make me hungry for a steak. Yeah backside fast slides are practically impossible in my book. siiiiiick.

Rollerblading to me... looks better than half the ski tricks out there. ex: 2-handed hand plants on quarters and half pipes, even when done by pros (not referring to hand drags btw).

He is soooooo over rated in my eyes, its not even funny!

His style is straight forced and its getting old.

message me if you wanna debate it

Sick shit, skiing is a bunch of clown fuckers. Sucks that I fall into that, but im going to steal some shit from that vid.

(i started writing this about 20 mins ago and just came back, in reference to hand plants) I know, but i see more skiers doing it in their edits, it's like skiing is 10 years behind (probably sounds about right) all the other sports. All the other "action" sports' communities have already nonverbally declared 2 handed plants as dumb and here skiing is like the annoying 4 year old little brother that's clueless to the world. Granted, I'm sure this is probably a bunch of others who agree with handplants as being gay, but I look at some of this stuf and just wonder. Then i get off track and just say i wish i was as good at skiing as i was inline, sad.

crazy talent but i think people outside of rollerblading would start to respect it if they saw people doing big rails/gaps/wallrides instead of two 360 switch ups, flailing arms, jumping all over the place. totally respect and think that shit is retarded but speaking for people outside the sport... they cant keep up with it and all they see is ballerina shit. btw dude has a good unique style.

go try jumping up, spinning, and landing on top of a ledge without having your arms move.... you can't do it, and that is because its impossible.

in skiing you are dealing with ramps or lips, which you can carve off of or use to pop you up, meaning that you don't have to manually jump up onto an obstacle, which also means that you can keep your arms at your side. its an easy game when you are being launched onto something... because you don't have to worry about using your body's strength to get you there. So if you have the vertical leap that can comfortably land you on top of a rail, then you could in theory go look like a clone with "gangster-gorilla" style on rollerblades.

in addition, its also easier to hold your arms steady when you are gripping something, such as poles, which are not part of rollerblading. If you've ever stretched your quadriceps (front upper leg muscles) by pulling your foot up to your ass by bending knee, and struggled a bit standing on one leg, it is actually easier to balance if you hold your ear with your free hand

chill out, i know whats up. im saying people outside the sport dont and im saying what would make them see a video of rollerblading and be like, "that was sick shit!" by the way, ive seen video of rollerbladers that would do just that. it is possible, but you cant be doing crazy tech shit like in this video.

i typed it in bold because i'm hoping all of the people who are normally like "ya thats cool but the arms in the air thing is really gay" would realize the physical conditions which are needed for rollerbladers to harness such body movements. Its a sport that involves your whole body, not just your feet

im sure its hard and im sure hes really good, but for the life of me i cant distinguish between a relatively easy trick and a hard trick on rollerblades. everyhting just kinda looks the same to me. maybe thats because i know nothing about rollerblade tricks (nor do i really care to), but it just seems like its a lot of work learning all of these tricks with such minor differences from one another that the majority of people will in no way be able to tell one from another.

just my two cents, and i guess i have to respect anyone who put the work in to get that good at something. i just find most of it to be boring in repetitive, whether it is or not.

i didnt like that bandana in his pocket either...

nah, the fakie makio on the white c-ledge where he sits really low and pokes his leg out. thats like his signature.

1st one, wasnt that impresses even though that shit is pretty hard, ive seen better.

2nd one is doope and notice on 0:44 the "afterbang" lawlz

Kinda how i felt about skiing since the only 2 tricks ppl pull are..... frontsides and backsides and when a picture is taken it's hard to tell which one the skier actually pulled. The variety of tricks in skiing is minimal it's how you get on and off that makes them different, so theres and whether you switch up to front side or backside inbetween. There are not really any variations in grinds in skiing there's really just 2 tricks, front side and backside (yes and broken grinds, which is just one leg bent of a front side and then of course 50/50's which no one really does). So compare the 2 to 4 grinds in skiing to the ......... I don't know I can count at least 25 grinds right off the top of my head(and theres way more than that), not sure how you think rollerblading grinds all look the same when skiing is seriously 2 tricks (grindwise). Now if you mean they all look the same (which is my guess) then I dont know what to tell you, i guess just keep on not caring about it. Don't get me wrong, I love skiing, but my roots are in inline and i guess I can just break it down a lot quicker.

thats a perfect example of what people who know nothing about roller blading would see and be like "fuck that was the coolest shit" not confused by too much technicality.

hijacked into a rollerblading stunt vids thread:

Pat Lennon - Leading the Blind (stunts and fakie backflip stair set haha)

Chris Haffey - Leading the Blind (full cab destruction)

haha believe me i was in no way comparing it to skiing...if theres any sport that lacks variety in the rail department its skiing. not that theres anything wrong with that.

i know that there are plenty of different rollerblade grinds, some of them way harder than others im sure. just as a relatively uneducated person in that department, i have trouble seeing significant differences between them.

but keep on keepin on all you rollerbladers, because just like anything else, it obviously takes plenty of skill. im just not interested with it, and thats not a reflection on the skill it takes, just my personal opinion.

theres nothing wrong with that at all, its a totally different sport. Theres a million grinds in rollerblading but that doesn't mean its better in any sense really, it just means that there is more options for what you can do on a given obstacle.

similarly, you can't hit 60 foot booters on skates, but that doesn't mean skiing is better.

its all apples and oranges, thats why its retarded how people hate on other "action" sports
