Even more confused about my feet now

So I've went to two different shops trying different model/brand boots on. At shop A, I tried on the Panterra 100 (102last) again in 26.5 and feels comfortable, but the guy measured my feet and said im not a wide feet and got me to try on the KR Core (98) 26.5, which feels more snug/comfortable than the panterra 100. And some other ones that has a lot of pressure point. Then i walked down the street to shop B, to try on some more boots, tried the Atomic waymaker 100 (101last), TOO comfortable. Tried the Salomon xpro 100, felt some pressure point between the ankle/forefoot. Also tried the Dalbello Rampage? (98last) 26.5 felt great, like the KR core.

So measured my foot again on something like the image below.

Measurements are

Left foot: 26.0 and 100width

Right foot: 25.5 and 102~103width

So do i need a 25.5 in a wider boot, or a 26.5 in narrower boot.

Any help appreciated...I dont even know if the boot fitters know their shit anymore..shop A says im dont have wide feet while B says I def have wide feet.

PS. I personally prefer a 3 piece over 2 piece shell. To a boot fitter, would that sound ignorant? Since "the boot that fits you best is the best boot".

did you measure your feet sat down aswell? It may be that the right foot is collasping more and that is why it is extending but that could be potentially fixed with footbeds. That is also quite a big difference in width espcially with the shorter foot being wider. For a big difference like that you may want to look at custom shell boots which may be a little easier to adpat to the very differnt feet. An Xmax from salomon has a working range of 98 to 104 so somthing like that could work well for you.

What did the fitters recomend in terms of footbeds?

sorry just saw that the 26 foot was 100mm The hawx or xpro would be better options then the xmax.

hi tom! thanks for the reply! Yes, i measured while sitting down as well, if i remembered correctly, right foot sitting is a little shorter than 25.5 and 102 width, and standing is around 103width. I'm currently using the hawx 80, and there is a lot of heel lifts, i use the super feet green foot beds. When I bought them, the guy in the boots section said its pretty close to what i need for footbeds so i didnt find go find a custom footbed.

As for sizing, I would go for 25.5 correct?

Thanks again!

Yeah probably a 25 then but get rid of those superfeet and get some customs. They will help prevent extra lengthening and widening underload. If both your feet are around the 102mm size but you found heel lift in the hawx maybe look at the xpro. They have a custom shell but have a lower instep then the hawx whic should help hold te heel better. Getting real footbeds will really help the heel lift issue too. Xpros come up fairly big so after moulding a 25 should hopefully be good. That certainly is not the only option boot wise but without seeing you they may be a good option.

Not to hijack his thread but if my heel lifts more than it should, should i get custom foot beds? Right now I just have the boot and nothing changed on it, but I'm looking into possibly getting some new boots for next season, but not sure yet

Yes custom footbeds should help with heel lift. The footbeds should help secure your foot in the boot and keep it in the right position which can help reduce heel lift. You should also do a shell check and make sure you're in the right size boot (boots that are too big will cause a lot of heel lift), take the liners out of your boot, slide your foot into the shell so you just gently touch the end of the boot and look how much space you have between your heel and the back of the boot. You should have between 1 to 2 fingers (~1 - 2cm) space between your heel and the boot shell, anymore than this means your boots are too big.

If the dalbello felt better than the others go with that. The two dalbellos you tried on are really the same boot.

Keep in mind everyone measures their metatarsal width differently.

Did they not she'll fit you? After a shell fit it should be pretty clear which option is better for you.

The KR core / Rampage both felt great at 26.5, but it seems like i need a 25.5. So I'd probably have to try out everything again in 25.5.

I did try the FT descendant 4 in 26.5 and they were VERY comfortable and probably too comfortable. So i might try the 25.5 when they hav the descendant 6 in stock.

The boots you are trying on are all over the map. Not sure what you are fishing for

yea...i did search the forum and know that "go see a boot fitter" is the best solution asa to finding the right boot. But all these boots were were suggested by two different boot fitters (two different shops) for me to try..thats why im even more confused than before i went to see them.

I guess my real question now is...should i go for a 26.5 narrow boot or a 25.5 wider boot

since my measurement is:

Left foot: 26.0 and 100width

Right foot: 25.5 and 102~103width

We can't help as we can't see your feet in the shells. You need to get shell check done and then the boot fitter can recomend what is best.

One thing though a 26 in 100mm and a 25 in 102 will be the same width. Boots generally get about 2mm wider and narrower every size up and down from 26. Honestly this is where it gets more confusin and why shell checking is the only real way to go.

I have Atomic hawx and I've tried all those dalbello boots with same kinda fit you describe. The Rampages (kr2) fit me the best.

I've had lots of problems with heel lift in other boots. Every boot fitter has told me I need 27.5 boots. I had lots of shin bang and toe issues and heel lift with my 27.5 hawx.

I dropped down to a 26.5 (26 shell) and had great hold and heel lock. I think it could be a good idea to match up your heel first then go from there. You can always stretch or punch out the toe box.

If you trust your boot fitter to do custom work, get the smaller size. They can always make one more custom to your lager foot with expansion/grinding, but its quite hard to make them smaller.

also, as said before, custom foot beds will make a big difference

Yea, I ended up getting the panterra 100 in 25.5. Def felt most comfortable and snug while not feeling any pressure points other than on top of my forefoot, which the boot fitter sticked some foam on my feet and then just heat molded the liners. Boots felt great after that, cant wait for the season to start!

I ended up going with the smaller size, didnt want to risk the chance of the boot packing out too much again. thanks!
