Ethnic Crew (Gapers Mobbin)

I would post this in ski gabber but I want to avoid getting hate about posting videos in forums. We all know the video section is long dead.
My friends from high school came skiing with us over break and I had to film with the GoPro a little. The group included an Indian kid (in all black, it was his first time ever skiing), a Korean kid (blue hoodie), a Vietnamese kid (all black with flames beanie), and a Romanian kid (Red/gray/black jacket).
It was a super hilarious day at their expense.

Ethnic Crew from Will Start on Vimeo.Recently Soul Crew had the opportunity to ski with a very diverse group of our friends, a group that came to be known as Ethnic Crew. I filmed some of it and threw this little edit together later on.

Featuring first time skier Nik Vishwanath, Taemin Eum, Khoa Bui, and Matei Alexianu.

if you primarily use the video you shoot to used on the internet,

i would shoot in the r3 setting because you cant really tell the difference between 1080 and 720.

Secondly you get 60fps for slow motion ( maybe you didnt need slow motion for the "Ethnic Crew", but it gives you the opportunity if you want it,

Thirdly, the super wide angle on the r3 at 170 degrees rather then the wide angle on the 1080 at 130 degrees

but i guess its always your choice

yea not really looking for critiques on how to use a gopro, sorry man. i know how to use them. i just filmed this edit without giving a shit and threw it together in like an hour, i only posted it to give some people laughs.
you actually can tell the difference between 1080 and 720, especially considering that both youtube and vimeo support 1080p now. and i didn't need 60fps so as far as i was concerned it was best to just go with the higher res option. also, since i wasn't doing pov or anything, there was no point in getting the widest angle possible. since i was following, a wider angle would have just made me seem even farther away.

whoa easy buddy. if you post videos in the media and arts be ready for M&A critiques. The reason the video section is dead is because people post meaningless edits in the forums. coughhhh....cough....

i'm not that mad, i was just like ugh am i seriously getting critiqued for this shitty gopro edit. here's my thinking:
1. i said i would have posted it in ski gabber (to avoid critiques i'm not looking for), but i don't want to get shit for posting a video in ski gabber. so i posted it here, where people usually post edits without a problem.
2. if you look at my other videos, i think you will see that i don't need critiques for a shitty gopro video that i made for laughs only. and that was the only reason i posted it, for laughs.
3. i'm not opposed to good critiques (although they're more useful when i actually tried), but honestly his critique was wrong (charlie backed me up on this, as you can see). you can tell the difference between 1080 and 720, and i would have had no reason to use 720p if i wasn't doing slow mo.
4. what? why would posting meaningless edits in the forum kill the video section? the video section is dead because most of the videos in there suck and it's too hard and time consuming to sift through them to find the good ones.
5. it's not entirely meaningless, i was posting it because i thought it was funny. and other people have thought it was funny too. if you don't, that's ok. but i'm just saying that i had a reason for posting it.
once again, not that mad, just giving my thoughts. i posted this for entertainment purposes only. obviously the filming is god awful, especially considering i was just holding the gopro in my hand so it's shaky as shit.

Yeah this guy maybe makes some of the best edits on NS I know of, doesn't really need the critique...

When I heard the song and these guys I couldn't stop laughing.

thanks man!
i couldn't decide if i wanted to go with ridiculously gangster or super happy 80s music, but once i remembered this song i was stoked.

definitely didnt -K you. you produce some of the best material on NS and i know that critique was not accurate. I was just making the point that critiques kind of come with the territory in M&A. I thought the edit was actually pretty humorous.

word, glad to hear that!
i was just hoping people would realize the edit was a complete joke and that no effort was put into it. didn't expect somebody to actually try to give me a serious critique on something so poorly filmed and put together.

This is true, but most laptop monitors cannot display 1080p footage. I know that with macs only the 17" macbook pro with the high resolution display can as far as their laptops go.

true, but when the ability to play 1080p is more standard, why not have your videos already be in full HD? if your computer can handle 1080p, there is no reason why you should use 720p30p on a gopro instead of 1080p30p.

plus, it's not like laptops that can't display full 1080p just show 720p and 1080p as the same resolution. they still play 1080p as a higher resolution.

why would you compare them though?
you might use slow motion, you shoot 720p60p.
you know you won't use slow motion, you shoot 1080p30p.
i knew i wouldn't use slow motion.
obviously, if there's any chance you'll be doing slow motion, 720p60p is the better choice.
