if you and another person (lets call him henry) pay for a service together, would you be ok with scenario 2 given that you comply with scenario 1?

here are the scenarios, simplified as much as humanly possible.

scenario 1:-

you pay $20 for something that henry pays $5 for. together, you have both attained the desired $25 item.

this was agreed upon by both of you and you're ok that you have to pay $20 where he only pays $5.

scenario 2:-

you later find out that the person who charged the $25 dollars for the item didn't actually charge $25, but instead only charged $20. so you payed $20 where you found out henry paid $0.

but since you still paid the amount you agreed to, the fact that henry paid nothing shouldn't matter, right? or wrong..

how do you feel about this? i ask because it's a simplified version of some serious real world shit that goes down.

yeah but you agreed to split something knowing how much you'd be charged.

so you're sitll being charged the same amount but his cut was not deducted from the total cost.

personally i disagree and think that if im paying 80% of something now i should be paying 80% after the deduction whether or not im happy to pay $20 for it. but that's just me.

and that's how businesses rip off insurance companies by having them agree to pay 80% of a patient's medical bill but then not charging the patient the other 20%, effectively allowing them to be treated for free which allows them to continue to rip off the insurance company since the patient doesn't care about what's going on or what treatment their getting because no matter how expensive or how much they need it's still free for them.

this goes on at the business i work for and i'm considering quitting just because i don't agree that people should be entitled to free services because businesses charge the insurance companies but not the patient.

great for business, great for making money, but it's terrible public service. that's how they can get away with never making you better and instead profitting off of your illness because they can just keep you on your treatment forever and you don't care because it doesn't come out of your pocket.

fucking canada......

At least your government isn't run by a bunch of children who throw a temper tantrum and shut the whole thing down when they don't get their way...

Hypotheticals make my head hurt but i'de be cool with it if i was friends with Henry but if I didn't know him well or didn't like him i would be salty.

Well actually, our lovely Mister Harper prorogues parliament whenever he wants some time off or things aren't going his way. It doesn't effect anyone beyond them and various bills getting delayed but it still is a completely ineffective way of dealing with problems

Yep, I agreed to pay 80%. I was lied to that 80% is $20 when 80% is actually $16. Therefore, I was scammed out of $4, so Henry and the salesman eac owe me $404 (10000% interest + original cost, and yes they both have to pay the original $4).

I dunno I thought it was funny that he'd charge 400 dollars and the original 4 dollars just to be a dick

Did Henry know this was going to happen? If so, then Henry fucking lied to me. and that's not cool. Even if Henry didn't know that was going to happen he could have at least told me about it once it did...
