Uh, snowboarding didn't change skiing, skiing owes snowboarding nothing, if it wasn't for skiing snowbording never would've happened because they wouldn't have lifts to get up the SKI hills.......Freeskier mag says it a lot bettr than I do, read the last page in the latest issue.

Teneighty's only suck cause you don't have them.

they started some of our tricks but i agree we really don't owe shit to snow boarding.... in my opinion i would rather watch Jon do a D-spin 9 over a snowboarder do a rodeo 9

they cannot cross their boards we can cross our skis

its all about the ski cross, no doubt

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

i cant ski im always depressed im 12 yrs old and 274lbs. somebody help me

i think he meant a change in the attitude of skiing, not progression of tricks or whatever. all i can say really, is that boarding allowed skiing to be part of a dichotomy. and yeah, they helped popularize the freeride attitude.

yah man, snowboarding brought 'round the badass attitude.

I also think that as far as the fasion goes snowboarding has influenced freeride skiing alot. You dont really ever see a freerider in racer clothes. I just wrote a compare and constrast essay on Freeride skiing and snowboarding if you want to see it just let me know.

Who knows where skiing would be today without snowboarding? Regardless of whether or not we 'owe' snowboarding anything, the fact remains that its influence has changed the face of skiing.

An interesting topic to look into might be how the growth of snowboarding has actually brought life back to skiing... a sudden diversity and rivalry on the slopes has encouraged riders from both sides of the field to improve their skills, so both sports improve through the competition with each other.

Snowboarding brought new style to the mountain, too. Grabbing, although I won't deny its been done for decades on skis, never became a huge issue until it became the single largest icon of the freestyle snowboarding movement. Do you think skiers would be grabbing as much as they do now if it wasn't for the influence of snowboarding?

And, a very important issue: how long have terrain parks been around? Answer: since snowboarding has been around. If there wasn't snowboarding, there would be no parks. Where did skiers learn to jib rails? Yes yes... snowboarding.
