He is really sick, but I don't think he is THAT underrated. Not as much BC content on here as there is over at TGR and other forums and I think that plays into it. Everyone really appreciates what he does and we all know he's a badass mountain man. So as far as the big mountain/pow sector of freeskiing goes, I think he's top taco, and gets quite a bit of recognition.

Now someone that is really underrated, Chad Sayers.

There are a lot of people who have never even heard of Chad. And while many of you may have never heard of Chad, I can almost guarantee you that you have seen him if you have picked up a ski magazine in the last five years. Him and Jordan Manly get some seriously $$$ shots, and he is just such a solid skier, and Jordan is such a solid photog. So when they work together they absolutely nail it, and that's why he is super underrated IMO.

Hoji is pretty legendary I would hardly say he is underrated. Well, maybe among the 12-18 year old Jiberish trading rail hiking tall tee stretching park rat crowd.

underrated? nothing underrated about him - the man is a legend.

he just doesn't slide rails, wear tall t's and listen to the wu tang clan = underrated on newschoolers

Just not the sort of skiing that is popular on here. He's firmly one of the biggest big mountain names though. This is kind of like asking TGR why is Phil Casabon so underrated.

god damn that man can ski.

and i think a better word, at least here on NS, would be under-appreciated rather than underrated.

I wouldn't say he is underrated. It's just here on NS. It's the same reason why Hornbeck won over Candide

He doesn't "drop enough edits" filled with "bangerz", and shotgunning shitty beer to be relevant to NS.

wait... newschoolers demonstrating a lack of respect and acknowledgment for seriously sick skiers that excel in areas other than than the park. Hoji is one of the best skiers in the world and anyone that knows anything about skiing should be able to see that. He may seem underrated but thats because your probably getting your skiing news from newschoolers when 95% of the members of this website think a fucking k-fed is sicker than charging a massive line in AK or earning your turns slaying pillows in BC.

Dude....It's a K-Fed. Shit is legit. Rail. Dancing. Hiking.

You have any idea how many times you might have to hike for a rail in a park to get a K-Fed...like..a lot. That would be like hiking almost maybe 5% of a BC line.

While Hoji is an amazing skier, he definitely isn't underrated or under appreciated as much as you guys are saying. Every couple threads I see his name pop up nowadays, which, of course he completely deserved. Hes sorta like Delorme in the way that everyone says hes under appreciated, but everyone still talks about them all the time.

This thread made me think back to the days before park when all skiers were forced to look up to big mountain slayers like Scot Schmidt, Trevor Peterson, Eric Pehota, Plake etc. you know, REAL SKIING on REAL MOUNTAINS.

But rail dancing is good for the industry, and it warms my heart when I read posts about kids planning trips out to Whistler and asking about the park and urban spots. More $ for the industry, less people skiing good terrain.

One of my all time favorites. I went to school with his cousin like 10-12 years ago... he said his cousin was a pro skier... I didn't really know who he was then.

praise for chad sayers and hoji in the same thread??? never thought i'd see the day! this pov edit is absurd.

Okay so obviously the OP didn't know what he was positing... BUT he was successful in getting Hoji some love on NS. So everyone wins! :)

The guy does the most epic flat spin 3s of cliffs .. he used to be a top park skier in the early 2000's when he was sponsored by Rossi

I think he hits a few park jumps and rails in Yearbook (MSP 2004). And of course he guined pigged one of the massive 7th Heaven sunset shoots on Blackcomb a few years ago, massive cork 7 tails.

Agreed. his parts in all MSP Films are the highlight. The Way i See It, Attack of al Nina some of the best. I cannot wait to see what hes going to through down in Superheroes of Stoke.

lol at newschoolers.com saying Hoji is underrated. He gets way more attention than almost any other big mountain skier right now, and all of it is very much deserved.
