EPIC.

Completely over used and brings a horrible cringe everytime i hear an aussie use this word.

You can do it! We can do it!

this thread is EPIC. If you don't like aussie accent, get rid of the aussies, not a word that has decribed many of my days this year ;)

Epic, adj.

1.Surpassing the usual or ordinary, particularly in scope or size: “A vast musical panorama... it requires an epic musical understanding to do it justice” (Tim Page).

2.Heroic and impressive in quality: “Here in the courtroom... there was more of that epic atmosphere, the extra amperage of a special moment” (Scott Turow).

my personal favourite.

"snawed!"

It didnt snaw foo, it snowed .

Ps i don't like most aussies. but i don't hate them and i wasnt directing any of my rant towards them.

Im just simply sick of people saying these same words all the time when i know they heard it from someone else who thinks their super duper cool.

Just like when i came to whistler. I called lots of people noobs and used the word uber alot. No it seams like everyone says uber and calls everyone noobs.

if your going to use those words at least use them modestly.

I have a word I overuse every season, this time round I think it's 'bad-ass', last year was gnar... kinda hard to get away from doing that

epic should only be used when describing stuff in the lord of the rings proportions.

nothing else is epic enough to be truly epic.

yes mike... thank you so much. That is exactly the post this thread deserves.

umm... ok GNAR. This was used for several years and lasted quite well. Even to this day it is used, but not used so commonly.

It really piss' me off when I hear someone on the hill say "This is epic".

Like. Everyone else can surely see its snowing and theres tons of pow. Its pretty much the most obvious remark to use at which point.

ohh puke is another one. They even used it on the radio sometime early in the season.. I was stunned. but puke doesnt bother me soo much.

how bout you all go fuck yourselves?

get over yourselves and your aussie bashing.

coz your so fucking cool you get should be in control of the 'hot word of the month'?

that was a pretty epic rant, hey mate??

i allready disclaimed the aussie bashing. It really had nothing to do with them. They just seam to be our worst offenders.

yeh, well you ski our shitty hills and 2 powder days a season, then come over here and get a season full of powder or awesome park, on a fuck off big mountain, and try to come up with a less common words then 'epic' or 'heaps good' whne adrenaline is running through your brain or your just too blown away by what you just experienced.

man, i had a scotish roomate last year - and everyday she went out it was the 'best day ever'... and this is last year mind you.

CRANKY! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT ONE, IT'S REAL PISSED OFF NOW!!! hehehe.

STOP CALLING ME DEZZA!

concidering that i'm not completely impressed with the mountain or the park here. Which is not to say i don't appreciate it.

AS well. craig i say oie all the time. I think it was partely due to rhese and partely due to "hey" converted in to oie.

I know how to piss craig off. One of two things. Talk about the texture of my shit and to begin a conversation with oie.

true

its "oi" not "oie"

and it is quite simply the best word ever.

it can replace a name, start a convo, be used in anger, happiness.. its just an awesome, epic, steezing, best ever, word. mate

Sloth...

I agree with you..

It is totally and innappropriatly overused in this town.

I bet most of the offenders don't even really know the meaning.. they probably think it means "great" or "awesome" or something along those lines..

Epics usually are tales or journeys.. not snowfalls.

Unless that snowfall happened to last a whole season.. then maybe one could define it as an "epic".

Shootr

Your very right. It was a strong point i forgot to make when i began this thread.

The definition of the word epic may have to very different meanings in this town.

I sort of got carried away and forget to explain that very point. People really do use it often to complament almost anything. Why not just say the mountain is beautiful today or if your really looking for a groovy word to describe a certain something you may use the word Steller. lol, but even the word steller is widely used and the definitions and the usage of the word still aren't the same.

Ultimately why try to use words to sound cool, when you can talk intelligently and in really cooler.

But. I do sometimes use these words but i try use them mockingly. When i do use them i hear myself in my mind and know i sound stupid using them.

i've started using charly instead of gnarly.

its way better, and people look at me in a confused manor, which is fairly amusing to me

new word to input into your bro-brah dictionary:

Shredular (v): to describe an action that is greater than "heaps epic", also defines how good a particular run is. "That was super shredular brah"
