Entry-level SLR

What's up guys?

I finally have the money buy a camera but am not really sure what to get. I've been reading other threads and it looks like people lean towards the canon t3i or t2i which shoot up to 30fps, I was also looking at the nikon D3100 but that doesnt have a external mic in and only shoots 24 fps but has auto-video focus.

I definitely want to stress video and making edits but also have the ability to get some good still shots on rails and jumps, and unfortunately I can't really go over $900 until I graduate school and get a real job

Let me know what you guys think,

Thanks a lot!

autofocus on dslrs is a gimmick.

you'll need more than 900 dollars to have a decent video set up if you're using a dslr.

t2i/t3is both shoot 60 fps

they both can shoot beautiful pictures in the right hands with the right glass

i think that covers all your points

just for future reference, 30fps shouldn't really be a reason for you to get something instead of something that only shoots 24fps. Unless you're going for a subtle slow motion effect, you will basically never want to shoot 30, especially at an entry level. it's mostly either 60p for slow motion stuff, or 24p for regular speed stuff
