this is the definition of 2010.

I sure hope not. Every trick in that edit has been done before but done with a lot more style not to mention a saw a lot of spinning on and off in that edit too.

I can't slide rails for shit but I'm not going to stop doing them. Hell, my home mountain doesn't even have a park, but rails are still fun when I get a chance to hit jib features even though I get fucked up almost every day I do hahaha

all ive seen is nollies off boxes, not pressed out slides. (and most of them look like mule kicks)

^ at 1:10, i see tailpress blindside switchup nosepress 270, thats been done? pretty sure its called a casanova on a snowboard.

Not just forgetting a letter.

-No capitalization

-"ur" is not a word

-"gonna" is not a word

-No punctuation

There's a reason kids now days seem stupid. It's because they can hardly speak their own language.

im sick of people saying this i ski alot of pow but its still nice to go and shred the park once and a while and learn some new stuff

I'm being completely serious. I'm not sure how old you are, but I bet you can see it too that you can guess the age of a lot of people on here just by their responses. If you look at a lot of the most respected posters of this site, the ones with high karma and high post counts, they make complete sentences, using punctuation and grammar. Even if most of their posts are obnoxious and insulting, they still get their point across that people can understand without having to read it 4 times.

dude, it's a forum. the way people talk on here is pretty much the same things as texting. just chill down. its easier to type short things than long things. common sense

All I know is I'm amazed by what the freeskiers of today are doing in the park. For me it's way more interesting to watch what the skiers are doing on the boxes and rails than boarders because there are so many more tricks they can do. I'm not hating on the boarders, but it seems that skiers have alot more variety and complexity to their moves. I could watch videos for hours on end(and been known to do so) of accomplished freeskiers and never tire of it. I've often said Tom dances on them rails, Henrik too! They both make it look so smooth, so natural....so st"easy". God if I were young again, That's what I'd want to TRY and do!!

so youre willing to give up all 10000 advantages to skiing to do simpler tricks on rails on a snowboard?

thats not right man

I think, no hope that skiing will begin to devide and branch out more in the coming season. It's reached a point where we no longer have to stuggle to keep freeskiing alive. We still have a longway to go to ensure skiing has an even brighter future but inorder to do that it has to be more diverse.Just look at skateboarding and snowboarding, they've undergone major changes in the past few years and it has done nothing but benifit them by bringing more intrest, more money, and better riding. Skiing needs to do that inorder to survive. So don't listen to other people when they tell you you need a certain style, because the truth is we need more style, and lots of it. Don't hate on the kids who wear tight pants and like different music and like to do different tricks. They're just as good as anyone but chose to do tricks that they think lok good over tricks that are really tech. Let's make skiing somehting that everyone wants to be involved in and that's interesting to watch for skiers, outsiders, even snowboarders. Let's make skiing as glamourous as it was in the 80's but with a Newschool spin. And most importantly, just be yourself. Be the way you are in real life when you're on the mountain and you'll enjoy yourself so much more. Support other riders. We aren't racers, we're not out for blood, so stop hating and be happy when someone looks at skiing differently than you do For All Our Sakes.

Sorry but rails actually do matter in slopestyle contrary to popular belief. Remember way way back at the xgames slope in I believe 2004. All that controversy between who should have won between Tanner Hall and Charles Gagnier. Long story short the judges said that their decision to choose Charles Gagnier over Tanner Hall was do to his inovative one foot grind on the upper rail section of the course.

and one thing that's always kind of annoyed me about skiing in general is that if people do tech tricks on jumps or halfpipe they are critisized endlessly on pushing the sport in the wrong direction and how it wasn't stylie. These same ticks eventually do become stylish. But this same rule does not apply to rails apparently. I could tell you anyone can have style in the air if they aren't doing big tricks and no a 540 doesn't count as a big trick.

And on a side note I don't think this guy who made the thread was asking people to start only doing 90 on 90 offs

bro there are so many more options for grinding on skis than on boards. the only thing i can think of that you cant realy do on a rail is a 50 50

Who cares about competitions. That's not what skiing should be about. It's about having fun with friends and getting everyone stoked. People who ride in movies deserve way more credit than they get.

i don't mind watching rails if they're actually RAILS, not BOXES. any dickhead retard can do a 1080 spin on a box, it looks gay and isn't difficult, nor is it dangerous at all. Doing insane shit on rails that are more than 4 feet off the ground is cool because there's usually a risk.

i'm simply talking rails here buddy. i'm not quitting skiing, never will.

you guys gotta understand that rails take up like, 5% of my skiing time in a winter.

I keep forgetting that some people on this site spend their entire skiing lives on rails. poor misguided souls.

oh ok well that makes this alot better now.

good choice too. rails arent all that fun i dont think. well they are but theres better things to do...

Honestly stop hating on people who ski rails. For a lot of kids that's the best they get all season because they ski in places that have crappy jumps and bad snow conditions 90% of the time and since rails are always the same no matter what the condition they do that. And for some people, myself included rails are more than just sliding on metal but are a way of self expression, of doing something that not everyone can do and doing it well, and making it look good. There's no better feeling than learning a new trick that you didn't think you could do. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to ski rails a lot. You fall a lot, hike a lot, and sometimes get bummed out because you feel like you're just doing the same trick over and over. But you know what it's fun especially when you're with friends. I know some people don't get it, and that's fine, but don't hate rail skiers because they're different from you. We're not all 12 year old park rats. (I raced for 6 years before trying park full time and fell in love with skiing rails.) I like skiing trees and powder just as much as the next guy but skiing rails is fun. That's it.
