i believe that england is actualy catching up in the world of freestyle skiing we now have 9yr old kids doing 900s and front flips and we have an 11yr old snowboarder that can 1080 and 900 nosegrab

i dont understand the whole skiing when it doesnt snow. thats just so wierd. thats like trying to be a surfer in arizona. just not possible. like, you could ride wave pools and everything, but its still so far from really surfing. like, props for doing it and everything, but why not take up a sport that would actually work in the terrrain? like biking, skating, rollin, ect?

im glad i live in colorado. because when you falls on snow you can just slide down the hill, but on dryslope you would get all kinds of carpet burns and shit.

Most of the UKs top riders spend the winter months abroad, either in the Alps or the States. You'll find that most british skiers tend to head to europe or america for a skiing holiday, dry slopes give people the opportunity to practice/learn before they go and they're also good because I can "ski" all year round. Obviously its not anywhere near as good but its better than nothing.

I wouldn't say we're catching up, but I'd say we're starting to get a pretty good scene going on. We have some good guys and girls coming through and every year competitions get better and better. Plus we have a few core shops!

not to be a dick, becaues I respect the scene in England... but a 900 and front flip are not comparable with switch corks, and shti like that, there young kids here in the states are doing.

England is definitly coming into its own though.

Yeah, tru dat. We've got neither snow nor mountains, so we're never realistically gonna be at the same level.

I think for the meagre resources we do have, some of the kids coming through are pretty impressive.

Did u try any of the dry/indoor slopes when u were over here Melvs? Some of them are not bad, some of them are just fucking dangerous!

no, I was in London 2 summers ago and wanted to go to one of them badly, but the family never made it close enough to one for me to hit them up. I have some family over there that lives near sheffield (I think it's sheffield they're near, not postitive though), and they say it's great practice and good fun. I'm sure I'll be visiting them in the future (our familys just met... never knew of each other until recently), and I'm definitly going to hit it up then.

Put a vid or pictures of these kids, im curious as to what they look like, because i've yet to see any dryslope skier with any sort of style what so ever.

Im 14 and ski at ski rossendale, middle of nowere in england, n i have loads o friends backflippin n pull 7s, n one who almost pulled a 9, but considering we do have no snow, and only shitty little kickers, so i agree were probably never gonna catch up wi the states, etc. but atleast were trying, p.s carpet burns on arrtificial slopes hurt like nothing else

Fuck i hate these threads, Andy shut up you ginger bastard, for a start the creme de la creme of British skiing is a lot more advanced than fucking 900's, and the boarders can do more than a 900 nosegrab or whatever you said. i will back this up when i get time to find some phots and video footage. Our top skiers are now on the same level as many European's, and this is because we live so close to the Alps. no we don't have snow, but many of us spend our seasons away from home, so whoever made the comment about us seeing 7 inches of pow and freaking out, shut the fuck up.

Those of you in Mammoth may well know Andy Bennett, Eddie Thelwell and Jamie Cameron, and you'l know they can do slightly more than a fucking 900. Sorry for the anger, im a bit tired and have a sorehead.

all you kids talking about how skiing without snow isn't skiing at all etc are fucking idiots. how many of you have turf setups for the summer? and how about urban rails, one of the many dope aspects of our sport, but they involve very little snow. I would love to have a dryslope near where i live for the summer, and i respect the hell out of the people that charge dryslope year round. Also, to that kid who said that 30% of skiing being fun was cold, that was possibly the most retarded statement ever, im sure you love spring skiing or glacier skiing, and it can get cold in england, without snowing.

there might be a couple of people that can do some ok stuff compared to people in the states but over all england IS NO WHERE NEAR the level of the states and wont be. we have 12 year old kids that are probably better than 95 percent of the people skiing this dryslope

 
I give english people kudos for doing what they do on dryslope and making the best of what they have. As for that cliff pic, that is sick and I wrote a comment on it then rated it but my comment didn't get on there for some reason. hmmmmmm......

I ski ocassionaly with jamie and andy and had some good days in the park with those boys last month in mammoth an ill tell you they all fuckin rip. And Could school 99% of you shit talking american kids out there. This site is soo full of you kids that sit on here all day talking shit about people you dont even know. The Brits are gonna make a mark on the international scene soon mark my words...
