Energy Drinks @ the X games

anyone notice this year a lot of atheletes are holding up energy drink cans at the end of there run? they arent even drinking them most of the time which i find funny. seems stupid to me, but i guess thats how they make the paper.
 
i think people forget that just because they are dope

they still have sponsors and that is their job to rep it
 
no kidding it is a little odd. Peter o had one too and it was like spilling all over him it looked like lol. They must pay alot of money cause alot of the athletes are hardcore trying to rep those drinks
 
the skiers need money, because the sport is doesnt pay alot inless your really really really known... energy drink =$$$$$$$$$$$ for the companies because people think that if they drink one they'll be as good as them
 
the skiers DO have a job you know?

they dont get paid for nothing i mean they have to rep their sponsors or theyre just gonna get dropped...
 
monster is sponsoring a ton of athletes now huh. seemed like the majority of x athletes in various sports either had red bull or monster hats/stickers
 
Yep i was just saying the same thing to my roommate. There is always a lot of sponsor repping at X but this was the first year I noticed MAJOR energy drink repping. Every athlete was repping monster hardcore. It's crazy but energy drink companies must really be throwing out some cash this year.
 
i saw a rockstar in there somewhere...but i saw that too. plus that shit can't be good for you. they should be holdin up a powerade or gatorade or something
 
speaking of the end of the run.. nothing compared to Danny Kass' dog at the bottom of his slope style run.. appropretly named BIG VERN after his home town in jersey
 
there there for the same reason the pros always put there skis with their sponsors stickers on them next to there face to get the rep out....

lol its funny cus like u just see a guy run out to a pro after his run and hand him a can to rep its kinda degrading tho
 
and you never see the label facing away from the camera no matter who is holding the drink and what drink it is as soon as they get the drink they look to get the label in front, just thought that was kind of funny
 
The energy drink companies probably put tons of money back into skiing and into the sport. They sponser events and make them happen and they sponser the riders for some of the reasons ppl have said in this thread. I think that it is Monster who has it right on the can that they support one of the US ski teams I don't know which one but either way they dump some money into a sport which obviously doesn't have as much money as a main stream sport.
 
the other thing i love is how sometimes at the end of a run, rather than taking off their skis, someone would hand them an identical pair to hold up during the interview.
 
have you ever noticed that the lables never line up the same on cans, d'u know what i mean? like the opening and the lables is rarely directly oposite of it. Im guessing the skiers who are reping it dont even drink it cause the opening isnt linied up
 
yea i mean shit they got our attention. i mean i can understand them holding up their boards to show a logo but i mean to get a can from someone and drink it infront of the camera, i just thought that was tacky...whatever though, theyre getting paid mad skrill to do that shit
 
agreed. id hold that shit too if u paid me but it didnt make me want to buy one. the only thing i objected to was Peter O's mom waving it around. You can sell urself to sponsors but not ur mom thats not right
 
whats the chances they're repping a nice redbull and vodka... thats what I'd do if I had to rep monster or redbull, I'd have my boys splash some VO in there for the end of my run, keeps ya warm, gives you a buzz and makes ya feel indestructable... energy drinks with liquor are where its at people
 
Even worse than the energy drinks...how about the guy who hands the skier a pair of skis right when the skier is finished...so that he doesn't have to take his off...he just gets another pair to hold up next to his face
 
yeah I was surprised to see Schiller and Danny Kass riding for monster. It would be dope to be sponsored by one of those companies. Think of all the energy you would have!
